Has anyone looked into or ran across any extended mags that will fit the R51? The 7 rd mags are fine for concealed carry
but for target practice its kind of a pain if you have a 10 shot skill set.  Thanks Arlis

I do have some with "light tubes" as well as the constant glow, and just love them.  They really stand out!  But hey, with tubes on both front and rear sight, they almost touch in the middle of the slide!

As for "shutting off the laser", I have no problem with the laserguard on my R51, or any other gun that I have them on.  Just ordered another one, for the older R51, (with the newest S/N!)  Midway has a sale on them going on.  Too bad, we are in the same state, damn sales tax!  That took the shine off the sale price, just a little bit.

The only true advantage of the tritium sights is... they don't require light to energize.  They just constantly glow even in daylight..but you just can't see them. So if you pickup your gun from the bedside table in the dark they are already glowing. Now of course thats not gonna help to see what your shooting at... but you'll have a sight picture of where that bullets headed.

Time will dim them, but that time should be equal, both sights on a new gun.

You need to check with the dealer and likely the factory!

One may be older, laying on a shelf somewhere, or may have sprung a leak, possibly fron instalation.

The front sight of course, is the most important.

My second R51, (hopefully will be here tomorrow) has a laser.

As when I went iut after dark to shut the hens in, a big fat 'possum came running out.

All I had was a little "cap bill" headlamp, but could see it pretty well.  It first stopped about 5 feet from the door and then darted anither 3 feet, stopped again.

Stuck the muzzle through a hole in the chain link, lined up and pulled the trigger.
One "good" 'possum now!
95 grain, soft, flat nosed Magtech laid her right down.
Barely wiggled after.

I dont think the muzzle raised enough to hit the top of the hole in the chain link.

Haa!  I'll bet the hens slept better that night.. you probably slept better too!    I have the laser for my R51 too... they're nice...blend right in with the looks of the gun.  Only thing I don't like is you can't turn them off. Since the activation button is mounted under the trigger guard... every time you squeeze the grip the laser comes on. So even in broad daylight it comes on. I don't like the idea of becoming "use" to it all the time... so I took it off.
     Regarding my sights I've contacted the seller of the gun.., TruGlow and the gun manufacturer to see who will replace the faulty sites. Somebody better.   ...Arlis

Hey all.. I bought a new gun that came with TruGlo tritium night sights. The rear sights work well and are pretty bright but the front sight  is extremely dim almost non existent. Anyone have any experience with these type sights or know what would cause one to be dimmer than the others?   The Front sight is marked TG-H3 G and the rear TG-H3 G1   Any help would be appreciated...  Arlis

Blackie... that's the most detailed video I've ever seen of the R51. That guy takes it ALL the way down. I have a much greater appreciation for the firearm
in general than before. The intricacies are truly impressive. There's a lot goin on that most of us take for granted when we pull the trigger.

   You mentioned its a "dirty shooting gun" ... Do you mean it gets dirty fast?? Cause thats what I have found with mine. In an earlier post I mentioned
how often I clean it...  that's because it gets sticky after a couple hundred rounds or less. The slide starts to hesitate when picking up the next round and thats
when I clean it.  In contrast I have an EAA Sar B69 17rd (which is an excellent full size 9m) And I've only cleaned it once since I've had it.

   So Blackie... you purposely test run your R51 dirty... what kind of results do you get. You don't have any feed issues?   Thanks for all your help...Arlis

I've got at least 3000 rounds thru her and would really just like to inspect it and see how dirty it is. I'm not sure how complicated it is but would really like to clean the trigger group occasionally and see how it works. They are "fiber optic" sights so...  no light... no glow. They would not be considered "night sites"...  Arlis

I forget what they are called, have a set on another pistol and just love them.

I bought a set direct from Remingtons website for $54 plus S&H. They only had the green when I ordered. My only complaint is I expected them to be
larger (the light tubes themselves) and I had to file both the font and back (dovetail) to get them in.  You'd think since they were from Remington they would not require

     Lotsa luck on getting Remington to change the trigger.  Took two years to fix the R51, and they still haven't fixed the magazines.   Some work, some don't.
If I can find a machine shop,  I will get them to make me a steel trigger.  This R51 is a great little gun, just needs some tweaking.
But do not expect  Big Green to come up with a fix.  I  really enjoy it at the range,  I have 5 magazines, numbered 1-5.  I keep notes on each
one to keep track of any snafu's.   So far, only #5 is flaky. 1 out of about 60.

Blackie... thats a great idea numbering the mags. After reading multiple posts it looks like I may have been lucky with the 4 mags I got. 
My son in law got back from Afghanistan about a year ago. Advised that I clean my mags as often as I clean my guns but to spray the inside and
outside of the mags with silicone spray (the fast drying stuff that almost goes on dry). I've been doing that since I got the gun in May of this year. Maybe it helps
maybe it doesn't.  He claims it helps keep residue and grit from accumulating in the mags and assists in dropping free from the mag well.
     Anyway.. if you find some one who'll make you a metal trigger let me know. Either way I still love my R51 and its a keeper!!  Thanks to all who contribute and stay
