Just watched the video again and saw the serial number as H016688R51 so it should be an early 2017 Huntsville production.

Yeah, I saw it was a Huntsville gun. They got the Gen 2 guns working fine, his problem is magazine related I'm sure.

And as far as slide bite goes, you have to be intentionally riding up on it quite a ways to get slide bite. If you hold it correctly, it won't happen. That's why I say it was intentional. Haters suck. I think that SootchOO and HRfunk gave quality, honest reviews of the gun.

Funny because TBF TV just posted a new video not too long ago bashing the R51 calling it a piece of junk. The guy who reviewed it, "Hop" I believe, was just trying to find things to blackball it with. He even whined about slide bite. Shouldn't be a problem if you hold the gun correctly. The R51 slide is high enough it won't bite if you aren't riding up on it. He didn't even acknowledge the mag problems, but bashed the gun as a whole. Oh well, haters will be haters.

As an M1 Garand collector, the M1a is a fitting capstone needed for the collection. Alas, I don't want to have to shell out $1500 right now! Lol. It would be a perfect Zombie Apocalypse gun for sure. Maybe one day though.

Smoke color, Huntsville marked H025XXXR51.  Remington says June of 2018.

Interestingly enough, most all of the Smokies are Huntsville frames and have serials starting in the 25xxx block. I wonder if any Charlotte Smokies will surface, or if they are all Huntsville frames.

Was at the range today testing some new powders through the R51. Looks like I found a new favorite with the 120TC. 6.8 grains of AA#7 pushes these an average of 1079fps and are as accurate as can be.

Nice grouping there! Which bullets where you using for these shots?

I own two one has been at Remington for nine months - will it ever return.

Seriously? I would have already been on them wanting to know where it is, and when it will return.

Since you mentioned +P+, I did read a review a few years ago about one man who ran a few mags of +P+ through his R51 without problems. It is nice to know that the design is that robust, but I would never want to torture my gun like he did. Do I recommend it? Absolutely not. Just saying that it is nice to know that it can withstand that heavy a load.

Howdy from your neighbor in North West Louisiana! Glad to have you with us, and also pleased to hear that you love your new R51. As time goes on, you will only fall more in love with it. It is surely one of the more underrated pieces out there.

Glad to have you with us! Despite what the haters have spouted for a long time, the first hand accounts from actual owners (not those keyboard kowboys) keep coming in with favorable responses! Glad you like it! We could only hope that Remington would re-introduce them again now that the responses are becoming favorable.

I'm from north Louisiana and honestly could care less about college football. But I have to admit, I am happy to see LSU doing so well this year. Who knows what will happen Monday, but in the end, it's just another game. I still wish them the best.

I try to visit the forum at least a couple times a week. Due to the holidays, I haven't stopped by once, but now I'm starting to get back into the swing of things so hopefully I can spend a bit more time here.
