That's marketing though, the basic ones exist to sell the better ones. still stupid that I can get any number of guns for half the price put together better than something with a reputation that's been around for 100 years.

I noticed that with Colt. When i was looking at the R1 I also checked out Colt. A $900 Colt was about the same quality, fit/finish as the Remington Enhanced. The $1200 Colt was much tighter. My plan is to learn the platform and eventually get all the tools to build a few myself. That's why I didn't want to spend a lot on a 1911.

Todd,
Sent you an email, check it out.

You should PM IKLawson,  he had a problem with his firing pin and
I believe he knows how to get the pin from Big Green.

Well I went to the range today and I now have 1019 rounds threw my #1,, R51,and I am very HAPPY with the pistol ,it should be broke now , and racks smooth, but I cannot rack it with 2 finqer's ,,,, and on Friday (3/16) I ordered a ""NEW R51 Gray smoke"" , hopefully it will be here Monday the 26th (ETA) , I hope, I get to put some rounds threw her but I may have to wait till November , as April 2nd I leave to go north, I may try to stall the departure but my WIFE may put the brakes on me, will keep you all posted also iam ordering 3 new magazines as they have good price I see blackie posted,, and I purchased action spring, action spring bushing, breech block, elastomer extractor button , extractor , extractor pin, firing pin , firing pin return spring ,(they are not sure what the pin is that holds the firing pin in) so they are sending 3 different pins that may work), slide stop return spring , and slide stop pin just to have ,,,

+++can anybody tell or knows what the pin is called that holds the firing pin in the Breech block????
       Thank You   Johnny'sR51

Johnny,
It is the firing pin retaining pin.  Numrich does not have it. I checked.  You might need to call Big Green. Sorry Johnny!

Johnny,
If you look in the manual for the R51, Remington tells us to "slingshot" the slide, instead of "Racking" the pistol.
in other words, lock the slide back with the retainer, insert the magazine, Pull the slide back and let it go.
Works like a champ that way.  In a tight situation, works better than trying an "Israeli draw".   ;)
All the best Johnny,
BTW, Check my avatar, the bone grips from Keefer look really sharp on my
Smokey!

Hello all;

Anyone know where I can get a schematic for the R51. I'm trying to educate myself about this pistol. After the last day at the range I stripped it down for cleaning and noticed what I think might be some internal damage. I've taken some pics that I plan on posting with some questions and want to at least appear like I know what I'm talking about.lol.Thanks in advance.

Nu2,
     Maybe this will help.

Todd,
      A couple of years ago, I gave an 1911 R1 .45ACP
to my grandson to carry on the job.  He loves it.
It was full size. I liked the feel of the grip, as my
hands are large

Johnny,

Remington has plants in Huntsville, AL (pistol plant)
Lonoke, AR (Ammo plant)
Hickory, KY (firearms plant)
and of course the original plant in Ilion, NY(firearms plant).

By the way, the North Carolina plant was shut down after the disastrous first release of the R51.

Hope that helps!

Sean

Sean,
Not right after, they made a lot of gen IIs there before they went to Huntsville.  Blackie was made in
Charlottesville.  ;)

To be clear, Kirk, nobody said Numrich had magazine parts.
Just that they had parts and magazines. And at the time I posted
that, they did have magazines. A little difference there.
Blackie
Fair enough.  The vagaries of the English language.  The way the sentence is constructed it could be read either way.  <shrug>

FWIW, I wish they did have magazine parts.

Peace favor  your sword,
Kirk

Kirk,
English was my worst subject.   If I knew English like I knew guns, I would be one smart old fart!

Todd,
Thanks for the tip on the brushes.  I can use that on the lubrication of the
slides and the frame.

Blackie,

You are very welcome. Are you the absent minded professor today?? That wasn't Todd that posted that, it's me Sean.  ;D  :o

I get confused also Sean. I changed my avatar to help.

I guess we have more pilots n here than we thought.   Any body into Aerobatics?
