There is a saying on another forum, if you don't show pictures, it didn't happen.  So here is my proof of purchase  ;D

I carry IWB and had experience with Alien holsters and liked them, so that is what I purchased for my new R51.  Alien is very comfortable and is adjustable for securing the gun.  My holster will be here in a few days and I paid $51 with additional leather straps vs. the plastic belt hooks.  This is what it looks like.

R51 General Discussion / Re: R51 not dead

Does anyone own a gen 1 R51 that works and they kept it?  Does it rack easy as compared to the new ones?  I'd love to have a recoil spring out of the gen 1 guns to try in my new gun.  I have over one thousand rounds through my gun now and haven't had a problem since the first time I took it to the range, and I'm convinced that was break in issues now.  Love the R51..

R51 General Discussion / Re: Chambering round
September 17, 2016, 09:39:09 AM
It is mentioned that some R51s are stamped with "Charlotte", aren't they all?  Mine too is stamped with the same, what other location is stamped on the new R51s?  Thanks, and there is no way mine will chamber a round with one finger either.

I've used the Alien holster for a few years with my PX4 Compact and found it to be very comfortable and secure.  After looking around at other makes I decided to give them a look for the R51, liked it and decided to get one for my gun.

R51 General Discussion / Re: R51 wood panel's
September 17, 2016, 09:22:57 AM
I found the side panels to be a little slippery at times even though they have an aggressive pattern to them.  I took my panels out and covered them with Talon rubber grip material.  You can buy a 5" x 7" sheet of the rubber directly from Talon.  I really like the purchase of the grip now.  I also put a section over the front of the grip, it was eating up my pinkie finger.

R51 General Discussion / Re: Firing pin fail

Have you tried to clean it without taking it apart??  When I clean my R51, I spray GunScrubber in through the front of the block and into the firing pin mechanism.  I get a lot of burnt powder out doing it that way.  The solution runs out around the extractor and I flush it until it runs clean. I use compressed air and blow it dry afterwards.  I have not seen any recommendation to apply any lube to it, some advise to apply a drop of oil to the firing pin channel and some say don't do it.  I'd try cleaning it before taking it apart.  Remington recommends not taking your gun apart any more than the standard take down for cleaning, may or may not affect warranty of the part.

General Discussion / Re: R51 Gen2 dry fire question
September 11, 2016, 07:51:40 AM
That's a cool idea, Robert.  I never thought of cutting off the rim to stop ejection.  I have some old snap caps I'll try that with.  By the way, even though it may be OK to dry fire without a snap cap, I just prefer to use them.  I picture in my mind the tip of the firing pin protruding through the hole far enough to cut a rim in the tip.  My mind has been known to play tricks on me too, though.

General Discussion / Re: R51 Slide Issue
September 11, 2016, 07:36:48 AM
Interesting, I've not actually tried that with mine, but now I will.  My normal routine is to lock the slide back, insert a fully loaded mag, and hit the slide release. I have sort of weak hands anyway and found that pulling the slide back to chamber the first round can cause my AR9 to stovepipe the first round, my Bodyguard is the same way and I figured it was caused by me not being quick enough or strong enough to get the slide all the way back and release it cleanly, as though I was "riding" the slide and causing the problem myself. From that, my normal routine is to use the "slide release".   Like I said, I'm going to try this and see what happens and I'll get back to the thread with the results.

Hey Tres, welcome to the new forum.  Do I know you from someplace ;D?  The method I use to get the slide back on is working very well for me.  I think that is what is shown in the Rem video but I didn't catch what the guy in the video was doing at first.  It first appeared he was just sliding it back on the frame but a closer watch made me think he was in deed racking the slide.

General Discussion / Re: R51 Kydex Holster
September 11, 2016, 07:22:45 AM
That's a good lookin' holster.  I've been searching for one so I too can carry my R51, which was the reason to buy it.  I've been carrying my PX4 Compact for years but when I saw the new Remington it was love at first sight, lol.  I really prefer leather, just a little more comfortable and l like the smell  ;), but if Kydex is all l can find, your choice would suit me just fine.  I have been carrying my R51 in my cargo shorts pocket and feel that that is safe but not the way to go.

No luck with online registration, I printed out the card and mailed it in. I've done that with most of my guns anyway.  No problem and the postage was free  ;)

R51 General Discussion / Re: slide action pull
September 04, 2016, 07:43:08 AM
At first mine was pretty stiff, after shooting about 700 rounds it's easing up. It seems to take a good overhand grip and quick snap action racking.  Much easier than some other straight blowbacks I own.
