Here is an X-Ray photo of the disconnector.  It is a Gen 1 but it shows the trigger bar, hammer block spring and sear spring.  It sounds like, from your description, that the trigger bar is not installed on the lower ledge of the disconnector.  This will bring the trigger bar up to engage both the hammer block and the sear.  Just curious about the disconnector breaking in two, I suspect this is from dry firing the pistol with the slide removed from the receiver.  By doing this, the hammer will slam both the sear and the hammer block into the disconnector cross bar and potentially cause the damage you are describing.

Welcome to the forum!  Share your experience with your pistol.  Do you shoot it often, have you made any modifications, have you learned anything about your R51, do you have a Gen 1, Gen 2, Smoke model?  Let us know.

@4 Ghost - I think she wants you to respond to her email.

@mr220v- when I examined the two slides side by side, I observed the opposite of what you are describing.  I was hoping it would be as easy as removing some material to make it function smoother.  It appears that the pocket in the slide that the hump of the breach block sits in has too much material already removed.  Some of the other internal lugs are chamfered in the Gen 1.  Again, too much material removed.  But I will look at it again to see if it can be fixed somehow.  I believe this is why the engineers came back with a completely new slide for the Gen 2.

Welcome Dan!  How long have you had your R51 and have you done any modifications to it- new pistol grips, new sights, CT laser, upgraded trigger, threaded barrel, any smithing?

I just picked up a pre-recall Gen 1 pretty cheap.  Hoping it will be a collector's item some day.  It has been interesting comparing the new with the old.  The Gen 2 slide action is so much smoother than the Gen 1.  I updated the differences earlier in this thread.

@hkp7fan Welcome to the forum!  There is not much new traffic but the forum has a wealth of information to search from.  So out of your three R51's did you pick up a two-tone smoke model?

I used to regularly check for updates on DangerCo's site but gave up after a while.  Can't wait for the new triggers!

That is a pretty informative response from the National Scouting Museum.  I laugh to myself when I think about how Remington would have answered a simple question like that.

Have you tried contacting the National Scouting Museum at Philmont?  They have an extensive research library.  I would also try going to a local trade-o-ree.  It's mostly patches but some guys have rare stuff like what you are looking for.

Roundhill LLC has the RemArms website up and running but it looks like they don't update it.  Under handguns it shows the R-1911 but no mention of the R51 even under Support>Firearm History.
