Why buy a R-51 Pistol / Re: Continued Sales?

The R51 appeared in the catalog during the recall too, but was never produced during the year the catalogue covered.

Yep, not just the firearms companies.  There are any number of old profitable companies which have been purchased by companies driven only by bean counters and then sold for perceived profits.  The customers suffer and the accountants move on to another target.

The way they have handled the R51 release and re-release and the absolute lack of any meaningful customer service, quite frankly they need to go bankrupt and start over.

I have to think that the Remington Co. has tech people monitoring sites such as this, in order to know what the actual consumer is experiencing with the product...(R51 pistol). I'd hope so, as a couple hundred guys buying, shooting, and obsessing over every little detail of the pistol is a true, real-world view of use of the product...

I think you are giving Remington much too much credit if you think they spend time monitoring this site.

Don't hold your breath until Remington does something.

Their news release are about as informative as their customer service efforts.  Looks to me like something is going on other than soft market.

Sounds a whole lot like the responses I received from Remington during the wait to get my Gen II replacement.

Suspect they will soon disappear from the Remington catalogue.  I like mine, too bad.

My experience was Customer Service was not a term understood by anyone at Remington.  I will never deal with them again.

Anyone think to ask the seller if they will work in Gen 2?

That is what I was looking for.  I'll have to try that.

I have one complete with original box, original instructions, and the $0.01 post card to send into Remington to register it for warranty. :)

General Discussion / Re: R51 Slide Issue

Couple of thoughts.  There is likely a great opportunity for someone to invent a fixture which helps those of us with old hands to disassemble and assemble the R51.

Second, I'm a little fascinated with all the complaining about pistol not functioning.  I've shot hollow point and ball ammo in mine to the tune of over 300 rounds and haven't had any problems.
