General Discussion / Re: New R51 mags in the mail?
« on: October 22, 2017, 11:19:30 PM »
Origin scan for the package is Memphis, TN, so they're obviously not coming from the Huntsville plant.

Imported?  Memphis is a big distribution point for imported products.

On Aug 30 Remington said they would send me two magazine and provided a sales invoice.  So far, !0/22, nothing more from them.

Correction:  I just went to my UPS page, and it shows a delivery from Remington to be made on Tuesday, 10/24.  It will be interesting to see what they have accomplished, if anything.

Remington R51 Facts and Specs / Re: Desantis Sof-Tuk holster

I purchased a Crossbreed DropSlide OWB for my R51CT.

https://www.crossbreedholsters.com/shop/dropslide-owb-holster.html

Fits perfectly.

I received an email from Remington on 8/30 that the new mags were back ordered with no shipping date.  Nothing since.

No offense, but why don't you just live with what you have? The R51 isn't a target pistol and the trigger is perfectly fine for the defense role (for which this pistol is intended). Not sure what the big deal is...

No offense Plunkster
If you are satisfied  with a pistol designated as a self defense weapon, that has a
proclivity to act up at times, fine.  But the rest of us want something that works all the time.

There was a video posted somewhere about this too short pin back when I was considering the purchase of the R51.  I doubt if I could find it now.

R51 General Discussion / Re: Things I’ve learned thus far...
« on: September 08, 2017, 09:36:24 PM »

Third difficulty I had was trying to load 7+1 or even load 7 at all with certain rounds.  I trimmed the bottom of the magazine followers on my magazines as suggested, and even resorted to the slingshot method of slide release for a bit of extra oomph, but certain hollowpoints were just nosediving on rounds 7 and 6.  I polished the feed ramp with a Dremel, and even polished the odd lips on the fronts of the magazines, but no luck.  I finally resorted to emailing Customer Service and they sent me a reply that they’ll send 2 replacement magazines.  As noted elsewhere, the part number of these replacements (F305402) doesn’t correspond to the one in the manual.  Could it be that Remington is addressing this issue after only a year?

Thanks for all the tips and learning.

Did they give you any idea of when they would send them?  I got a similar email from them on 8/30, but they said they were back ordered.  Nothing since.

Peace favor your sword,

Interesting the fact that the frame now shows the Huntsville, AL factory.  I wonder what else might be different.

Still has that crappy plastic trigger.

Interesting.  The new color model indicates that Remington hasn't given up on the pistol.

Here is the response I just received from Remington after giving them my mailing address:

We will send you a couple of replacement magazines.  Your parts order number is xxxxxxx.  They are currently on back order, but we will email you once it ships.  Should you have additional questions, please feel free to contact our Consumer Services Department at 800-243-9700, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, EST, Monday through Friday.

They are sending P/N: F304502.  I responded and asked if these are the same as what was supplied with the Gen II R51.  No response to that question yet.

Maybe being on back order indicates that some change has been made in the manufacturing process.  I'll certainly give them a thorough going over when they are received.

I  just noticed that the P/N they are promising to send (F304502) is not the same P/N that is listed on several retail websites as the R51 Magazine P/N: 17696, but Out of Stock on most of them.  Maybe F304502 is an improved update.  Neither P/N is shown on the Remington.com website.

I will report back when I have them in hand.

I recently emailed Remington Support about the magazine problems.  If/when I hear back, I'll post it here; but I'm not holding my breath.

What were there symptoms you reported to Rem?
Mag falling out on 7+1?
FTF on first or second round?
Can't rack slide on a full mag?

All of the above.

I have not seen a single word from Rem on the problems with the mags.

Just received an email from Remington asking for my Serial Number and a Mailing Address.

No more, no less and with no further explanation.  It will be interesting to see where it goes from here.

So Remington admits to itself that they missed on the R51, resolves to not let this happen again, circles its wagons around products they haven't screwed up, in a few years they will stop selling the R51, and that will be the end.

Very well said!
