R51 General Discussion / R51's Appear in Showcase
August 08, 2020, 12:49:13 PM
A busy gunshop & range I visit here in SE Pa., has 3 new R51's in their showcase. I believe they shunned them once problems arose, but now that there is a huge demand for guns of all types, they magically appeared. I believe the R51 is kind of a "gun nut" product, which is why this site has been so helpful. I like mine, but a new gun owner might be put off by the quirks inherent in the R51.

By the way, all, a report in the paper 7/29 states that Remington is once again filing for bankruptcy...and, a recent effort the sell the company to the Navajo Nation fell through. I know they recently installed a new pres. who had been on the board. It just seems they have unending problems...this could affect future quality issues. Hope it all clears up, this stems from their lawsuits after the Sandy Hook tragedy.

Why buy a R-51 Pistol / R51 familiarization
February 04, 2019, 07:13:45 PM
Mild weather here in Eastern Pa.; took my R51 out for 100 round session. My first two tries with this nice pistol (350 rds.) I had it shooting way low. Today, was right on the money at 15 yds., chest-size target. So my initial experience with this gun was just my "newness" to it, and getting used to the trigger, etc. My range's 7 yd. target is out of commission for a spell, but at 15 yds. with hardball ammo, it was very predictable. I need to shoot anything a few times before making a judgement about it! I had only one failure to fully eject in 100 rounds; 99% OK! I like that this Forum seems to have insightful, sincere writers, all helpful. We've all seen forums where people misspell, and make dumb comments. This Forum is very professional and supportive. Thanks, all.

Why buy a R-51 Pistol / Continued Sales?
April 16, 2018, 04:01:52 PM
With the current financial troubles Remington is having, are they still making and distributing the R51? The early bad press the pistol first received must've had a negative effect on sales. Are we currently seeing the total final numbers of this pistol to ever be made? The company isn't very forthcoming with information, from what I can see on line...wonder how many were produced?

General Discussion / Mfgr. listening?
January 22, 2018, 04:02:41 PM
I have to think that the Remington Co. has tech people monitoring sites such as this, in order to know what the actual consumer is experiencing with the product...(R51 pistol). I'd hope so, as a couple hundred guys buying, shooting, and obsessing over every little detail of the pistol is a true, real-world view of use of the product...

I'm holding off on any holsters for the R51; I want to see ones specifically dedicated to the pistol, not just a coincidental 'perfect fit', although I respect peoples' experiences and postings thereof...

Finding an R51 Pistol / Finding R521's
November 22, 2017, 09:41:11 AM
I'm not all that familiar with computers, yet, sometimes I don't know just what to 'click'; but Target Master in Chadds Ford, Pa., (Rt. 202N) had a nice stack of R51's when I bought mine recently. It seems to be a Remington authorized dealer, got a neat Velcro-type sleeve patch, "Remington Defense" along with my purchase. Thanks, everyone.

Greetings, Everyone; I'm glad to see a forum about this interesting new Pistol, the R51. I was aware of it, and read up on it since the Recall issue; when Rem offered the $100 off rebate program, I jumped at the chance to buy/try one, as it was only $244. after tax, tags, and title. I look forward to hearing from others about their experiences; I believe I was drawn in by the 'retro' looks and price. Have a great Thanksgiving, all!  :
