R51 General Discussion / "Guests"
February 05, 2018, 04:39:23 PM
Hey, do you guys ever notice how many guests show up on here?

I would guess that it runs somewhere between 2 to 6 or 7 guests per member, at any given time.

Seems that there is still a bunch of interest out there.

Lots of nibbles, but slow on the real "swallow the hook"!

That term may well irk some folks, but look at the members here that own more than one of these guns!

Photos - Remington R51 photos / Holsters, one more time
November 24, 2017, 12:51:10 PM
Since the gun with the laserguard is here now, I am serious about a holster to fit it.

The South American leather one I was using has of course worked for the non-laser one for sometime.
However, as with all leather IWB holsters, it is softening and starting to collaspe under the tight belt, when the gun is not in it.
No fun re-holstering when that happens.

Plus, the laser one rides abiut an inch higher, which makes this holster unacceptable as well.

What I really want is either straight Kydex or a leather/neoprene, kydex hybrid.

Single METAL clip, with or without cant adjustment.

Anyone know of such an animal?

Other Guns - talk about them here / R51 vs the RM380
November 11, 2017, 02:27:02 PM
Cabelas has a sale going on, RM380 for $250, and then the $100 Black Friday rebate from Rem.
The R51 for $300 before the $100 Rem black Friday rebate.
If you need any of these, The R9 as well, it's hard to pass up!
I just couldn't get the Smoke/Silver R51 that I wanted.
The clerk said he had never seen one in the store.

While I was there last evening, (buying one of each, will have to be shipped, state line problem, until the new one opens up on this side next spring), the very first RM380 out from under the glass, had the slide open about a quarter of an inch.  They tried to cycle it, and it would only go about another quarter inch.  Locked up except for that fraction of an inch movement.

One of the salesmen took it to the back, and it came back working about 15/20 minutes later.  Hopefully, that gun is not is not have "teeth cutting", problems as well.  (I certainly didn't want or get that display model!)  So far in all the articles that I have saw about it, I haven't heard or seen such a problem, or virtually any problem.

For those that might not know, Rem bought out Rhoarbaugh, and this is their reproduction of that close to $1,000 gun!
With improvements, yet, or so Rem says.

R51 General Discussion / What if????
November 05, 2017, 12:52:36 AM
Always thought it might be wise to at least some times have a back up gun.
But didn't want a huge full size and some tiny little revolver, or anything close to that configuration.

Now, for some years, I carried a compact IWB, but there are times that just a plain simple "pocket carry", commando, or with a pocket holster, is simpler, but sometimes just not enough.  Hard to get to, when sitting down, etc.

So, my thoughts are, get this R51 dead nuts reliable, (think it's getting close now), and then pick up another.

Yep, one pocket, one IWB!

Very same mags, so no hassle in grabbing the wrong mag, (caliber), at the wrong time there!
Every thing is the same!

Two guns, 3 or 4 mags.

Your thoughts?
