Howdy y'all.

I've been reading on here couple weeks ever since I purchased my gen2 R51.
I missed all the gen1 hoopla. I was checking Academy hot deals and come across the gen2. Loved the retro look and the idea of bringing back an old design and was intrigued by the claims of comfort and recoil, not to mention plus p in a compact. Purchased the next day.

Weekend at my folks out in the country got to try her out on some cans. Shot great but hard to aim, seemed to be low but kinda hard to know for sure at some cans with pool bank backstop. Noticed sights were off to the left a bit. tried to adjust but wouldn't budge even with set screw completely removed. Did not want to get to physical with punch on my brand new gun!! Didn't like idea of $125.00 new sights (read on this forum about others with down and to left and they did this.) for a new gun.
She jammed on me twice both with remington practice rounds out of first 100 rounds. No jams with Hornaday critical defense. Close to two hundred through her, decided a range environment would be better suited to finding out fact of an aiming issue or not.

Made the range next weekday off. Bullseyes at 6 yards for first fifty then started moving left? found my sights (rear) was working itself over to left. 350 rounds total. Got a couple of no chambering when racking slide and two more jams when real dirty (this happened when attempting tactical reload, chambering one then dropping mag and adding another one and replacing mag; 7 + 1). Was not fun cleaning afterwords, gun and mags!! Used several brands and weights, Blazer, Hornaday, aguilla, remington. Could tell no difference in felt recoil from 115 grain to 147. Plus P ammo ordered for next time but didn't get to this time.

I got sights centered and gun dead on at defense range. Most comfortable shooting gun I own and trigger pull phenomenal compared to my LC9 (only peeve about my LC9, the long long trigger pull). Easier to keep on target with follow up compared to my LC9. Little heavier but I like the fact it aint polymer framed. Lighter than my Colt New Agent! I don't like the fact I can't add a seventh after chambering one and leary of no slide safety for carrying chambered. I have seen videos of racking on your belt or boot heel but seems a good way to accidently shoot yourself in emergency, stressful situation.

I have had no issues with slide stiffness. Have noticed I can stop slide at breakdown hole and it will rest if uncocked. Don't know if this is normal. Can find nowhere in manuel or Remington sight of seven plus one claim and don't want to shorten legs in magazine (I'm confident that no downward travel in full mag is what jams it on a tactical reload after first shot).

I love this gun but aint comfortable/trusting enough yet for CC.

I have been reading on here. I purchased a barrel on E-bay myself (fits fine, aint shot with it yet) and found some wood grips, custom made there for 32 bucks.
Holster for 35 off Ebay aint in yet but I aint carrying until I get more comfortable/training in with her.

Thanks for adding me and reading fellas.
