R51 General Discussion / R51 Disassembly Tooling
June 23, 2020, 08:48:23 AM
Just an update on the tooling that I make.  I no longer have a website (got tired of it getting hacked) so you need to contact me through a PM, if you are interested in purchasing these tools.

Also, prices have been updated to $55.00 per set, either the standard barrel tool and one thumb-pusher or the threaded barrel tool and one thumb-pusher, which includes shipping to the lower 48 states.  Price for a standard barrel tool, a threaded barrel tool and one thumb-pusher is $75.00, which includes shipping to the lower 48 states.

Have a great day.

R51 General Discussion / R51 Disassembly Tooling
January 23, 2019, 01:14:10 PM
I've come up with some tooling that makes it rather easy to remove the slide from the frame and getting them back together again.  Also there is a "thumb pusher" that fits over the barrel lugs so you don't annihilate your thumb when pushing the barrel against the recoil spring.  If there is any interest, let me know and I will come up with a price for a set.  :)

This was my first cut at a tool; more complicated to use than the one below.

R51 General Discussion / R51 Magazines
January 11, 2019, 05:32:20 PM
I was just on the Remington website looking for magazines for the R51 (https://www.remington.com/shop/Magazines/c/HP-Magazines).  They are listed at $29.95 each.  When you click on the magazine, it takes you to the detailed page and the price is $14.99 each - half price!  Thought you might like to know.  :)

Introductions section / Greetings from VA
January 10, 2019, 03:07:20 AM
Hello from VA.  I'm a "mostly" retired automation engineer and a gunsmith who recently acquired, and fell in love with, an R51 pistol.  They became available through a wholesaler, so I picked one up, as I was very interested in the Petersen design and wanted to handle one and get familiar with an actual physical piece.  I wasn't in anyway disappointed in the R51, and in fact, after pumping several magazines of ammo through it, I ordered a second one, which will probably become a safe queen.  While browsing this forum, I have already picked up some valuable info about the R51, and hopefully, as I get more familiar with its internal workings, I may be able to contribute to this forum.
Most of my work to this point involved Sigs, 1911's, Browning HP's, S&W revolvers and various other handguns, so feel free to ask any questions you might have; if I can answer them, I will, and if I can't, I will tell you so, and then hunt for an answer for you through some of my contacts.  Well, I'm looking forward to some fun with the R51 and this forum.  Be well and be vigilant and safe.  :)
