Good morning!  I bought my R51 gen2 just a couple of days before The Firearm Blog's scathing review was released on YouTube.  It really had me worried that I had made a bad decision.  I've since taken my R51 to the range twice, and have put a total of about 185 rounds through it.

On the first range trip, I put around 85 rounds through it.  It shoots as expected, and I was fairly pleased.  The webbing of my hand does feel a little sting, and turns a bit red, after more than a few rounds, and I think that it's due to a combination of the lower bore axis than I'm used to, and possibly the sorta sharp edges around the top of the grip safety.  Either way, not something I'm concerned with.

I also had one occasion where I went to pull the trigger and nothing happened.  At the time, I thought it might not have gone completely into battery.  I dropped the magazine and re-inserted it and I was able to fire.  I experienced no other issues.

On my second range trip, I put 100 rounds through it.  There were two occasions where I went to squeeze the trigger and it didn't fire.  Turns out that while I was able to feel the slight trigger reset most of the time, I missed it these two times.  I suspect that this is what happened on my first range visit as well.

Here's the result from the second half of that range visit.  50 rounds at 25 feet, slow fire:

Conclusion:  ~185 rounds, no malfunctions, fits great in the hand, and shoots well

I just talked to a friend of mine over in College Station, Texas, and he and his buddies took  his R51 out for a day of shooting. They put a 1000 rounds through it and it went BANG! every time.
No ejection problems, no FTF, no nothing. Just fun! My kiinda gun.
So many guns, so little time!

I have put over a thousand rounds through my R51 in four range trips and it has performed without any hitches except for the first couple of magazines I fired on the first visit.  Two FTEj and the rest have all went bang.  I find the grip to my liking and I really enjoy shooting it one handed.  Of all my pistols, I shoot this one one handed better than the rest.  The reliability is solid enough that I bought a holster and will add the R to my carry rotation.  I've been shooting 115Gr Hornady XTPs and Montana Gold 115Gr HPs and the gun is very accurate with these loads.  I reload them and the pressure is near 32k, which is about average or near the upper limit.  I'm going to load some more closer to the 35k pressure limit since the R is rated +P to see how that goes.  I usually shoot 124Gr bullets in my carry guns and want to load up a bunch at the upper end just for this gun.
