I had a Gen 2 R51, that was build in Alabama. Ever since I received the gun it had a weird grip safety. The issue with it is like the safety hits a wall halfway depressed. When you hit that wall you have to squeeze harder and it makes a loud audible click, It requires about 1 foot pound of force to get back that wall. I didn't think much of it, but it annoyed me how loud it was. It was like trigger takeup before the break.
I contacted Remington and they had me ship it out to Heinricks, it came back 4 days later with a statement "within specs." Ha yeah right. So I went to the LGS that had 2 R51s, neither of those two had the issue mine had. So I took a video, contacted them a second time and asked for them to watch it. They had me send it out again to Heinricks and he replaced the grip safety, thats it. I got it back and the issue was still there. So I call them up and ask if they even watched the video, nope. So the guy I was on the phone with watched it and said it was indeed not normal. This time the guy authorized to get my gun replaced.
It's now going on 3 weeks and no word on my replacement gun. I called yesterday and was told to call back in a week. Oh well I had the new M&P 2.0 Compact to keep my attention in the mean time.
Anyone else have this weird grip safety issue? So far I'm 0% impressed with Heinricks firearm repair.
