I had a Gen 2 R51, that was build in Alabama. Ever since I received the gun it had a weird grip safety. The issue with it is like the safety hits a wall halfway depressed. When you hit that wall you have to squeeze harder and it makes a loud audible click, It requires about 1 foot pound of force to get back that wall. I didn't think much of it, but it annoyed me how loud it was. It was like trigger takeup before the break.

I contacted Remington and they had me ship it out to Heinricks, it came back 4 days later with a statement "within specs." Ha yeah right. So I went to the LGS that had 2 R51s, neither of those two had the issue mine had. So I took a video, contacted them a second time and asked for them to watch it. They had me send it out again to Heinricks and he replaced the grip safety, thats it. I got it back and the issue was still there. So I call them up and ask if they even watched the video, nope. So the guy I was on the phone with watched it and said it was indeed not normal. This time the guy authorized to get my gun replaced.

It's now going on 3 weeks and no word on my replacement gun. I called yesterday and was told to call back in a week. Oh well I had the new M&P 2.0 Compact to keep my attention in the mean time.

Anyone else have this weird grip safety issue? So far I'm 0% impressed with Heinricks firearm repair.

My black R51 has the Hunstville AL stamped into the frame. I got that about 45 days ago. So its been on it for a while. Currently it's back in AL getting the grip safety fixed.

So far I've had 2 FTFs, both only with +P Remington Saber JHPs.

I will be doing the follower mod soon to the mags to chamber a round with a full mag.

It seems that the issue is with the mags, I've read a few threads on here about some people bending the tab in front of the magazine a little bit out, but it's there to make sure the round doesn't go to far forward and not get fed. I wish for a mag redesign but I don't think it's going to come.
I plan on polishing the mags a little more, and looking under my dissecting microscope to look for burs and polish anything I can.

It did fine with Sig v-crown, 0 issues with that hollow points, and 0 issues with any FMJs. My carry ammo will be Federal HSTs and I plan on getting 500 rounds of that and testing it thoroughly.

Good afternoon,

I picked up my R51 3 weeks ago, so far I've put about 150 rounds through it. I wasn't to deterred after all of the reviews. I tried two flavors of FMJ 1 @ 115 grain and 1 @ 125 grain? I believe. The only hiccups it had was with Remington gold saber Hollow points ironically enough. I think the bullet was to long itself and getting hung it.  It ran fine on the sig v-crown.

Is there any way to tell from the serial number when the build date was?

Thanks everyone!
