R51 General Discussion / Re: Where are you
January 02, 2022, 09:29:17 AM
I'm in El Paso, not a native Texan but I am learning. Came to Texas via Scotland and then Baltimore. My sons were in the army at Ft Bliss and talked me into moving to Texas, never going anywhere else, Texas is like heaven. I support the Cowboys and whoever is playing the Indianapolis Colts, though the Baltimore Ravens are close to my heart.

I prefer the Fobus holsters and use a Fobus C-21B paddle. It has adjustable retention tension and easily clips onto whatever belt I'm wearing.

R51 General Discussion / R-51 teething problems
December 29, 2021, 03:01:05 PM
In the past ~6 months I have had nothing but problems from my R-51:
1. All but impossible to load the magazine with 7 rounds
2. All but impossible to eject the magazine via the mag eject button with 7 rounds in the mag
3. If I do manage to load a mag with 7 rounds then I can't pull the slide back
4. Pressure from the magazine follower on the bolt will frequently stop it from cycling completely
5. There are probably more that I'll add as I think of them

Before I joined this forum I found this post:
http://r51pistol.com/general-discussion/r51-slide-issue/
I noted the many responses saying to shorten the magazine follower 3/16". I did so on the 2 mags that I have.
All the problems went away...
Thanks everyone!

Hey ALL, I'm retired, a Vietnam vet, and an avid shooter.
As well as the Remington R-51 I have a Ruger LCP and a KEL-TEC PMR-30.
I also have a Ruger AR556 and an H&R 45-70 single shot Buffalo gun — 32 inch barrel.
I look forward to learning everything I can about the R-51 and this seems like the place to do it!
