R51 General Discussion / Re: Grips?
July 15, 2020, 02:53:10 PM
I lucked out and got these exact grips from eBay in June 2020. The guy only had 5 pair. I went back a few days later to get another pair for a spare but they were already gone. I'm glad I got them when they did. Fits my hand perfectly because of the contour. I'm wondering if the guy will make any more. If you have a chance to get these get them.

R51 General Discussion / Re: !st round chambering

After seeing a utube video where the shooter had that nosedive hangup on hollow points, I took it upon myself to grind just a little off that front edge. Didn't seem to hurt anything and I don't have any nose dive jams.

Thanks for the tip on polishing the chamber. I'll do that next time it is apart. I use Maas jewelry cleaner on my silver rings and use that to polish my breech block and barrel. A little gun grease and it feels great. Will shoot it in next three days.

I was in the same boat. Bought mine without knowing anything at all about it. Really glad I did. The haters may have convinced me. But I loved this gun and wanted it to work.. I finally found a few owners who liked it ok so I went with that til I could try it out for myself. I've only been th the range twice and shot around 300 rounds or so. Only had minimal problems. Hopefully I will get all the bugs worked out. Seems most people here have. Welcome aboard.

I bought my R51 in April 2020 with my stimulus check at Gibson's in Kerrville Tx. It was everything I wanted in a handgun especially since I always loved the Walthers. It fit my hand perfectly and I was ready to go. Then I started watching the videos. Some folks were brutal on it. I'm glad I bought it first. I've only been to the range twice and will go for my ccw later this month. I have only had minor snags and have shot around 300 rounds. I happened on this page the other day while researching the magazine issue. I have already learned lots here. I am glad to find a group who loves the gun and want to pass on what they have learned. Got a pair of wood grips off Ebay and really love them. Highly recommend.
