R51 General Discussion / R51 FRONT SIGHT
April 26, 2020, 05:19:39 PM
Hey all:  Noticed front sight of new R-51 was not centered and off to the right just enough to see that it was off center. Didn't measure but looks about +1mm. Removed the set screw and with a 1/2" wooden dowel and a rubber hammer, tried lightly to shift the sight slightly left. I didn't want to apply too much pressure but it would not budge. Any ideas?  Thanks,  Thomas

Introductions section / New To Forum

Thanks for the acceptance.  New to R51, having only picked up mine a couple of days ago. Knowing nothing about it, I decided to view a YouTube video or two and see what it is all about.  First I read the enclosed R51 pamphlet, then selected one videos showing all of the basic operations, handling, fit and functions. Then after that I looked at a few videos of all the perceived R51 problems, the original model, the improvements, the ones sent back to Remington for repair or adjustment, the Gen ll and so on. Then, looked at a few videos of satisfied owners, and comments of the disgruntled. After all that I went to one that showed disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, proper storage and upkeep. I ended taking mine apart a couple of times.  The first try was more difficult, but the second go around was a bit easier once I found all the parts I dropped on the floor and got it safely together again. Have not fired this pistol and am anxious to put through a few rounds. The ammo I choose was Federal, 9mm +p, 124 grain,HST, Tactical. They are steel cased, hollow point rounds, muzzle fps 1200. Should do work required. Happy to be on the forum as I have a lot to learn and sure will pick up a useful tip or two. Thanks all!
