QuoteCoz,
Have you tried Ad Block Plus?  Works great for me.  And, thanks for the photo tips too.
Blackie

I have not. I may try it or an equivalent. There is one add that stops it cold until you click to continue to the site. that one really gums up the works. Three out of five times it locks up fire Fox cold and I need to force a close and restart it.

I have photos in my Bucket from 2002 that are still active. So I don't think they just go inactive. I think the original poster just deleted them from their bucket.
My only issue with photo Bucket is the adds. To get rid of them you need to pay $14 a year.
Not a bad deal really.
But I had previously paid $9 that was suppose to make my Bucket add free for life.
They just changes the TOS and that deal was null n void.
They should have at least offered me a discount or something 1st.
( may be they did and I missed it)

Any way I will look around and try some others. If I decide that Photo Bucket is worth the $14 I will pay up.
But not with out a bitch fest first. Dems the rules.

You can upload to photobucket. From there you can copy and paste the URL for the image.
Photobucket is starting to go ad crazy, pop ups ect.

So I have started to use Google Photos. Not quite as user friendly as PhotoBucket but no pop up adds.
You must resize the image before uploading to Google photos.
Resize to 800x600 or 1240 x 768 save as a jpg file. View the image and right click.
Choose copy Image location.

While in your post, click on Insert Image. Paste that link between the img tags.

Test image from Google Photos.

Quick and easy image resizer.

R51 General Discussion / R51 and cheap ammo update.
February 17, 2017, 02:21:49 PM
Finally got the test done. I wanted to try some of the cheaper stuff out there to see how it works.
Usually I roll my own so finding cheap ammo is not a requirement.
But when you see stuff on sale, nice to know if it will shoot.
I had seen some of the Utubes of guys using the Russian stuff and having problems.

I picked up a box of Remington 115gr Brass case as a control.

A 150 round box of Winchester American steel
A 100 round box of the Federal aluminum cased stuff.

The Remington stuff shot great as expected. If your R51 hick ups on the stuff the gun was designed to shoot. Time to clean it and see whats up.

Winchester steel was next. Shot 100 of these no real issues. You can tell that the R51 likes higher pressure loads better though. These may be at the bottom of what it can eat. These seemed dirty to me.

Next put 50 of the Aluminum cased stuff through. Gun was not cleaned for any of these.
I had a fail to feed right out of the gate. No problems after that these felt more snappy.

Things I like about my R51. Super easy to control. You really have to try not to hit what your aiming at.
Even just dumping a mag at 25 feet all end up in a 6 inch circle. I will take that any day.
I find that its not any more or any less reliable than any of my other guns. Including my main carry gun XD's 45.

They finally got the correct part out to me. Got it put in and insured the proper placement.
Took all of ten minutes.
Took it out and ran a couple mags through it.

Tex,
I have never heard of anybody having a problem with the slide stop spring on the Gen II R51s. That is why I asked.
The slide stop on the R51  pops in just like the slide stop on any 1911.  Is this a new issue with the R51?
Blackie

The problem is that you must get the slide stop "leg" under the spring or it won't work right. Getting it under the spring can be tricky and it's not all that difficult to accidentally get it on top of the spring (which then makes the stop very hard to remove). And it will also bend the spring down even more. So I can see why someone might try to bend the spring up a littler to make it easier to get the tab under it.

This is exactly what happened. After cleaning the gun, the next time I went to shoot it every round would lock the slide back.
Figured out what the problem was and after about an hour of trying to get the slide lock installed properly to no avail.
I took a small needle nose pliers and tried to bend the loop that rides on top of the slide lock up just a bit.
BING!!! Out it popped never to be seen by human eyes again.

Oh I did hear back from Remington yesterday. The support guy stated he is forwarding the details to the manager of the shipping dept in hopes he can get this solved.
They are trying, stuff happens. It will get fixed.

I remember when I worked for the phone company. We fixed this guys phone 10 times. Each time we found nothing wrong and would change out a wire or device in hopes the offending entity would be replaced. Come to find out the support tech was just putting in the number he was calling from.
We fix the one we are told to fix. The 2nd time I went there, I figured it out. The offending line was in his sons name so did not even show up on the records. People never home at work when we show up.
Lucky the nosy neighbor was home and came out to ask why we could not fix the phone... I explained what we had done and cant find a problem.
She just said you guys must be a bunch of idiots. his Son has not been able to use his phone for months.
Blink.... ( light bulb).. Do you know his phone number????
Was not a easy fix though. There was a 11 pair aerial phone cable feeding 12 customers. Did not take me too long to find out who did the last installation on that road. I asked him in a not to polite tone. How he was able to complete that install with no spare pairs available??? But I digress..

R51 General Discussion / Remington customer service.

Arrrrrrg I hate to bring this up.  Butt

Thats right my R51.
The slide stop return spring. Mine popped out and got lost while I was trying to get it sprung out enough to allow me to re inert the slide stop with out it getting stuck on top of the spring instead of under the spring.

I have called Remington parts support. I have to tell you they have been fantastic. Every time they have been nice and supportive.

I have sent images of the part I want and also images of the part they sent.

The last time this was the return email:
I put in the notes to look in the bend and check for the correct part
and notes the last two orders have sent what looks like the disconnector
instead of the slide stop return spring. You new order number is 2051993

Guess what I got today? This is the third attempt BTW.

arrrrrggggg,
Obviously they have the wrong part in the bin and the parts grabber is too dumb to look.
Maybe I need to run down to the ware house with my Red Forman BUTT kicking boots.
This started in November.
The next step if I cant get the correct part is to send the gun in and let them fix it.

I noticed that Alien Gear Holsters has a Shell for the R51. Since I have a old shell for a PT111 that I no longer have. I decided to try out their free shell exchange program.
Sent in my old shell and wala! Ten days latter my R51 shell showed up.
Total cost to me was $2.50 to mail the old shell back.
All ready to be added to the mix.

Got a chance to put a few rounds down the pipe today.

100 rounds of Winchester white box. = 100 % reliable
75 rounds of Perfecta = 9?% reliable Had one miss feed nose down in the mag.
Rest were 100%
14 rounds of Hornady XTP= 100%
14 rounds of my 147gr powder coated cast loads. sized .358= 100% reliable.

So about 200 rounds with one miss feed to break it in.
I am ok with that. Plus it shoots my hand loads :-)

Accuracy... I did not shoot for accuracy but every shot landed in the 8 inch circle at 25 feet.
The few that I did try to aim good. Were just fine.
Recoil is super manageable and follow up shots are akin to a Bersa Thunder .380

Wow, Buds has a very good price. I paid quite a bit more for mine from Fleet Farm.

R51 General Discussion / Finally got my very own R51
September 24, 2016, 01:16:04 AM
Woot!!! Got er...Having a sale at the house and sold a couple guns I dont need to get one I want.

Good thing I ran down to Fleet Farm right away. Got there and back before the wife got home.
I get back and she lays in with all the stuff we could have used that money for.
I said " yea thats why I ran down there so fast" Mine!!!!!

All i have time for is a quick photo so here it is.

Quick glance, comparing the R51 to my favorite carry piece my XD's 45.
Size is similar and the empty weight is about the same. A couple things I did notice right away.
The weight of the XD's is all on the top and to the front were as the the weight of the R51 is evenly distributed.
Better description would be. The XD's your handling the gun and the R51 your holding the gun.
Its very very well balanced. For me ( since every one's hands are different.) Its a glove fit.
Note: The XD's is much better balanced when its full of whooper butt kickers.
Still love it and its not going any were.

I have stuck it into the holster for my Bersa Thunder. Seems to fit well enough until I get the proper shell.
Just walking around the house drawing and presenting. It just rises right to my eye with no adjustment needed.
No rounds yet. I am going to work the action a couple thousand times and give her a good cleaning. Before I give her a work out.
I do have high hopes for this gun.

yea put that bugger in your safe and leave it there. Hope you still have the box ect. Put a note in there explaining what it is ect.
It is and will be a collectors item.
If your not interested in saving it. Sell it to a collector and buy a new gun. DONT send it back to Remy. They will just destroy it.

Thanks for the update. If this thing does materialize I will be a Gen 2 beta tester.
It has all the features that would make it the perfect single stack 9mm carry pistol for me.
If it works. Great!!! I got what I wanted.
If not.... Well some years from now my Son would  have a very rare gun added to his inheritance.
Win win in my book.
My Kahr cm9 can fill the role ether way.

Dont have a R51 yet. But plan on it as soon as the g2 version shows up.

Really hope they get it right. R51 really intrigues me.
