Has anyone tried a Detroit Kydex holster for a CT Edition? [https://icarryguns.com/products/remington-r51-iwb-kydex-gun-holster][/url]

This is my first post and I am sorry if it is really long.

I purchased my Gen 2 Remington R51 about 6 months after they re-released it, I had wanted one since I first saw that Remington was making them back in, when was it, like 2014. Anyway, I received it and put it in my gun safe and always forgot to take it along when I went to the range. So it sat in my gun safe for nearly 2 years, unfired.  Last December, I was going to the range with a friend. This time I saw it sitting there when I opened my safe, so I loaded it up in my range bag.  I was very excited about shooting it. I got to the range, already had the 3 magazines loaded and ready to go.  It was the 2nd gun i was gong to shoot that day. I got to the pistol range, got it our and slapped in a magazine, racked the slide and pointed down range, I made sure the grip safety was depressed squeezed the trigger, only I couldn't squeeze the trigger. The trigger would not budge. I dropped the magazine racked the slide to remove the round in the breech, put the round back in the magazine. At this point, I cycled the pistol a couple of times and dry fired to make sure that it would work. It worked, but I have never felt a trigger that felt that full of gravel. It was not anything close to a smooth trigger.  I thought well maybe it will get better after I break it in. I put the magazine back in, racked the slide and wham, same thing happened. The trigger would not budge.  I just unloaded it and put it away.  Well, I finally contacted Remington around April 18th, 19th. They sent me a Fed Ex pre-paid  label. I sent it in to them. About a week after they received it, I got an email telling me that there was going to be a delay in getting my pistol back as some of the needed parts were on backorder.  That was until today, when my phone rang and it was Remington calling me to inform me that they could not repair it to their satisfaction so they were going to send me out a replacement.  Well, I said fine, and they are also going to swap it out for the Smoke/Silver version that I asked for. So, I am happy, their customer service was first rate.  They were a real pleasure to deal with.
Has anyone else had this problem?  I asked the Remington employee to called me to let me know about the swap and she said that they do not provide them with that information. I figured, but I am really curious to see if any other R-51 owners have had a similar problem with their trigger locking up after loading the pistol?

I think I make have had that happen with my Charlotte gun.  I think it was a case of a bullet wedged against the mag release.

Does the firing pin hole on the Peterson block look different on the two guns? Is one larger or have more rounded edges?

I looked at my Charlottesville gun and the firing pin hole does look slightly larger than what's on the Peterson block of the Huntsville gun.

Are the cratered primers failing to fire?  I have noticed that primers that have a cratered appearance after firing is not uncommon with many types of 9mm ammo. And it happens using a variety of different pistols.
Unless the rounds are failing to eject, I just ignore it.

In ether pistol the ammo is firing, but in the Charlotte gun the cratering is more prevalent. That is why I made comment as the Huntsville gun which is newer,  is hardly doing it..

Just came back from shooting my Crimson trace edition R- 51. I experienced none of the usual R-51 maladies. It wasn't picture-perfect I had two failures to feed. One was a stovepipe jam (that can happen with almost any gun) and another where the round was chambered but the slide did not go all the way into battery. It was almost like the round was a little off center and got wedged against the edge of the chamber. Once the round was pulled out and then seated properly it went bang.. no problem
What I found interesting was I shot the South African surplus (headstamp DNL) which in my Charlotte gun would get cratered primers. In this Huntsville Crimson trace edition, it fired perfectly! So if you are getting cratered primers I'm of the strong opinion to go ahead and send them gun back in to Remington and let them deal with it.
The sight picture is still the same compared to my earlier Charlotte gun. It has to be combat/center of mass otherwise it will shoot low.
I still need to shoot this newer gun a few more times before I feel comfortable carrying it, but overall I feel that these later Huntsville produced guns seem to be better than the earlier Charlotte guns

Have you every tried getting something shipped by Palmetto State? Holy cow...

Actually I've had good luck with Palmetto and Classic Firearms both are firms that most find problematic.

Triggers are live! Very limited quantities, get one while you can! Machining on 2nd run starts next week  8)

Are there any other colors being offered in later runs?  I think silver or black in an echo of what OEM metal triggers from Remington would look like would be cool.

Have folks had good experiences with LockedandLoaded?  I've heard of them.   thx

I bought a CT edition from them back on the 5th and they claim a week to 10 days to ship. I'm a little concerned as I don't think it a matter of waiting for the check to clear as I paid with credit card.  I probably would have gotten speedier service from Classic, but I would have paid $30 more.  For what I paid I'll give them until Wednesday and the benefit of the doubt.

Just a follow up. Lockedloaded.com did indeed deliver. Just keep in mind they are not fast on shipping..

John, you didnt say how your gun performed. Everything I like about the R51 is its performance. I like the way it points naturally and the recoil is extremely slight....even with +P ammunition.

What I like  about my R-51 is it's very flat shooting and now that I know what ammo it likes it's quite reliable..

Hey, all!  I'm getting into a R51 for CCW purposes. Hopefully picking up a disassembly/assembly tool set if there are any left, or getting in line for the next batch.

With sufficient practice tools aren't required.

I was at my local RK store yesterday picking up farm supplies and they no longer have R51's in the display case.
Didn't get to talk to any sales guys they were too busy.
I just checked there website and they have them listed with CT for $399.00 but it says "factory ship" whatever that means.
Also I just bought another Desantis mini scabbard at holsters unlimited for $24.20 if anyone is interested. Now they have 4 left.

A fair guess is they will order you one upon request.

The retro design of this pistol just begs for a high polish nickle plate and while the actual cost of the plating will be almost double the pistols value it'll definitely be a one of a kind I'll have till it's my turn to leave this plane.

Having said that however I know nicking an aluminum frame is more difficult than a steel frame and not every place that does plating will bother with aluminum; so I'm wondering if anyone knows of a reputable shop that will mess with the aluminum frame and pass on the info to me.

And as a woman I very seldom ever wear a belt, yoga pants and leggings are my every day wear generally, so I'm wondering if the member might suggest and IWB holster that would be able to utilize the waistband alone or even not at all???

Thanks!🙂

How about the Flash Bang Bra Holster??
