Title: Availability in Stores?
Post by: Terrier on August 03, 2016, 09:57:58 AM
The Remington website says it will be later in August before the new R-51's will be "on the shelves."  Has anyone (who is not a previous owner) found them available anywhere?

When I read Remington had stated 8/12 as being the on shelf date, I asked a local dealer if he could get one for me.  He was going to try to get a laser and a non laser model and I could pick which I wanted.  He sent me a message on 8/2/16 that his distributor had them in.  He said if I wanted a laser model, there were not enough to fill his backorder, but he could get the non laser now. I just hope "now" means no later than the 12th.  The key takeaway is that they are supposedly in distributors hands.

Just ordered my R51 tonight 9:07pm AZ time from Cheaper than dirt.
GunBroker already has 4-5 4sale on their site
Armslist has few up as well.
So much for a drop date of Aug.12th

This is odd, my CC was billed and a order was generated last night but now you can't order one?

Well, I placed 4 on order in February of 2014 with my local dealer. Back in May of this year I decided to cancel and get the $400 I put down as a deposit back as it looked as if there was no hope in sight and I live close the the Ilion plant which was telling me that Remington was going to abandon the product. Due to my lack of having my *hit together, I never got around to it. Dealer called me yesterday to inform me that I had the oldest order in the major eastern distributor for them and was shipped the first commercial product out of that distributor. They were sitting on his counter and when would I be in to get them?

I have 5 original Model 51 380s (two complete with boxes) so I am pretty excited to finally get the newest Pederson legacy. Two of the R51s have consecutive serial numbers. Being that this is the land of Cuomo, I will need to wait till Tuesday to get my new R51s.

Pretty awesome, I did go and look at them. They are a bit wider that the original and do not have the same grip feel the 51s are noted for. Much lighter though.

Will let you all know how it turns out when I finally shoot them. I expect they will be widely available soon.

I purchased one on Friday afternoon from Olde English Outfitters in Tipp City, OH.  They had one under glass and, apparently, more than one in the back.

I've put hundreds of rounds through mine now.  The only time I've ever experienced feed errors was with the Gen 1 magazine.  I'm considering trying to buy a Gen 2 follower for it.  The Gen 1 follower, I believe, is causing issues.
