Doing a little shopping and want to find the newest possible. One dealer has the above but said he thought it was fairly early. Forgot to ask if it was Charlotte or Huntsville. Serial nr is 0035612R51. Does this indicate approx date of mfg?
Welcome aboard! Best thing to do is email remington at: info@remington.com
I found out mine was made in July 2017. Serial number is 20,000 something. I can't remember exactly. Hope that helps!
Thanks Larry. Is your 20K gun Charlotte or Huntsville? Another question: In an earlier thread about serial nrs I read that some made in Hunsville had an "H" prefix. Does all have that? If so, the 35K i referred to above is a Charlotte gun. Needless to say, I am a bit confused at this point. LOL
Hello Uflyer,
First off, my name isn't Larry Elder. That is a quote from Larry I have there in my signature. My name is Sean. Sorry for the confusion. No biggie. I've been called worse! :o Mine is a Huntsville gun. I have a picture of it in the forum gallery under "user images". Actually three pics, but one of them has the serial clearly visible It's the bottom right picture. Yes, the H prefix is for Huntsville, and the C prefix is for Charlotte. I would be very surprised if any Gen1s are running loose out there. All of the Charlotte framed pistols you see are re-worked Gen1 guns. However, from a collecting standpoint I would love to have a Gen1. There are very few examples if any still left out there.
Sorry about name mix-up and thanks for reply. Am going to hit couple local gun shops this week or next and see what they can do price wise. The only thing I've read that bothers me is several folks have mentioned "wobbly triggers".
No apologies needed. Wobbly triggers are nothing out of the ordinary on R51s unfortunately. They all have a little bit of slop in them, which I do not care for at all. Engineerpower on this forum is working on an solid (non-skeletized) aluminum prototype to replace the plastic one. It should solve the slop problems as well. I hope it gets it done in short order because I really want to replace the stock trigger. Good luck in your search!
