Title: New to the Community
Post by: DzlRob on June 30, 2018, 11:34:38 AM
Hi Folks,

I'm a brand new R51 owner from Louisville, KY.  Found a great deal on the pistol, intrigued by the low bore axis.  Just had my first trip to the range, and I experienced what I've read about here, with a difference between POA and POI.  Good grouping, just not where I expected.  I've watched the disassembly videos and probably invented a few new words getting it put back together the first time, but all is well and I know that I can do it.  I love the way my R51 shoots and handles, now to figure out where to aim!

Welcome aboard from Louisiana! Glad you like your new pistol. More range time always helps!

Welcome to the community. I bought my 51 last November and after the first 50 rounds and a good cleaning it has ran flawlessly ever since. The only issue I have is that the mag release will not operate with a full mag. I have to cycle a round or two to drop the remaining out. Other than that it is a glorious pocket gun. Lots to learn here so check in often, glad to have you on board.

It may be the method you're using for sighting.  I had exactly the same problem with my 1911R1.  Turns out that it is dead on if I use "combat hold" instead of "target hold" or "6 o'clock hold."

Line up the spots and the POI should be in the exact center of the front spot.

Use the bottom pic for the proper sight picture on Remington handguns:

Peace favor your sword,

Welcome to the forum from Texas!  It's the only forum to get helpful feedback instead of R51 bashing.
