I own a R51 now and am experiencing a stuck slide during disassembly and am looking for assistance, it's jammed halfway so I can see into the chamber and about an inch of the barrel, but it will not go forward or backwards period. What should I do or any advice to remedy this situation? Thanks for the help.
With slide lock removed, hammer must be cocked, and about one inch of barrel extended and held from the front of the slide.
Slide should move forward off of the frame.

Tyler,
First cock the gun. Then pull the slide back to the take down position. See the thread I started called,
Take Down Made Simple?
I hope that will help you! Good luck!

If it's jammed in the half removed position it's possible the barrel is rotated slightly. Try turning the barrel back and forth while pushing/pulling slightly on the slide. Sometimes it helps to have three hands while doing this.

Todd,
You are dead on here. That is something I totally forgot about. I did have mine do that once and boy was it a PITA! You are definitely right about having three hands though!
Tyler,
I had the same problem when I got my first R51. It takes a few sessions to
get the take down and reassembly right. Have you got a clamp for the barrel?
Put the clamp on the barrel, and twist the barrel, it should pop back in.
I have found that my R51s, both Blackie and Smokey will go several
rounds at the range without cleaning. If I intend to carry one of them,
I clean them first. Helps having two R51s, carry one clean, practice
with the dirty one. I have not had a single malfunction that I can attribute
to dirty guns. My malfunctions now are strictly attributed to bad ammo.
Not necessarily to Winchester White box. But only two rounds since the
first of the year. As I stated in an earlier post, the magazine I got from
Big Green in February has had no malfunctions. Something changed at
Big Green. All the mags I got last year had problems which have been
corrected.

Thanks everyone, I got the gun disassembled, cleaned, oiled, and reassembled. The reason for the slide
Being stuck was I turned the barrel trying to remove the slide initially. So I just grabbed the barrel while agitating the slide and it came right off. Thanks for everyone's help
And insight.

Once you do it a few times, you will be doing it blindfolded. Well almost blindfolded!! ;D
back from the range today , she sure get's dirty, I have a hard time holding the slide open with my hands , my right & left hands has Arthritis in both wrist , so I use a Clamp to help do the job , with out the clamp it takes mabe 15min to dissemble and longer to assemble ,,, with the clamp its 5mins to do both
I don't have arthritis, but the last time I field stripped mine, my hand cramped up so bad I had to use the other one to put it on the table and force all my fingers out straight and lay it flat on the table to stop the cramping. I have never had that happen so bad before. I think I may use a clamp next time too. Funny that Remington advertised this gun as being for people who have weak hands. I guess, they weren't considering them actually doing any maintenance on it!
Back in 2016 there was a young lady who held a R51 by the slide amd
racked it with one finger. Fake news????
