Hello World!
Greetings, from Central Indiana! I'm Cameron Husk, Director of Engineering for a VOSB machine shop called 'DangerCo, LLC'. I just purchased a Gen2 R51 last week with the $100 rebate (couldn't pass it up), and am really looking forward to learning the Pedersen system and working with this nice little handgun.
I run a CNC design and prototyping shop, so I will probably be seeking the community's feedback on potential new product development. Some of the things we're discussing are:
- Threaded barrels
- CNC Aluminum adjustable triggers
- Improved followers
- Grip panels
It's a very niche community (what with all the poo-poo'ing on Big Green), so we'd like to get involved with aftermarket support and serving a dedicated group of enthusiasts.

Don't forget the sights as with most R51s the POI is a bit low. I'm sure most owners will want them.

It is about time that somebody took heed to the complaints of the R51
community. We have a couple of members who have designed new
triggers and mag followers and a couple of mag adjustments.
We need somebody like your outfit to give us hope.

Cameron, you asked me why I prefered TI over AL.
Well, it's harder, never mind the lighter weight.
And it's, Oh so Pretty, with just a touch of surface oxidation!
Now, the first thing I thought about was replacing that AL bbl bushing with a TI one. Might aleaviate some of the scratches!
Now, as to trigger shape/design, just tighten up the wobble. No holes needed, especially with TI and a bit of oxy color!
The TI replacement trigger for my Sig P938 was just about the only thing I liked about the gun.
Cameron, any ball park guess as to how much higher in cost it would be to make a TI trigger, in place of Al?
Twice, 3 times? Etc.
And not even asking for any guess here, but just day dreaming.
If I could afford it, I would have a complete R51 frame made up for one or both of my R51s!
Wow, with some Oxy coloration, just think how that would look next to a black or smoke one!
In general, Ti is about twice the cost of Al, until you get into more specialized grades or forms.
For example, looking at McMaster Carr, a 0.25x2x12" sheet of 7075 Al is $31.14 while the same thing in Grade 2 Ti is $58.67. Another cost addition is that Ti is a little harder to machine, and wears on tools faster. I grew up listening to engineer stories from my Grandpap, and I remember him telling me that they had to machine it under flood coolant at the time or it'd overheat and catch fire.
What is really neat about Ti, other than the strength/weight factor, is colorization. Al can be color anodized, but it requires a dye, so you're a bit at the mercy of the dye integrity, cleanliness of the tank, processing factors, etc. Ti can be color anodized, but the color is based on the voltage applied, and no dye is required.
Welcome! Maybe after a while we will see DangerCo custom R51s. Kinda like Les Baer 1911s. 8)
