Title: R51 idiosyncrasies
Post by: 1911SHOOTER on December 09, 2017, 05:45:42 PM
I mentioned in an earlier post that I was not cleaning my R51 after any range sessions.
So far, it has had about 300 rounds through it dirty.   No problems.

I know you are doing that for testing purposes to see how long it will last like that, but I am a clean freak. I clean my baby after each range session. Nothing like a nice shiny gun!  :)

We should start a pool to guess what round count the problems start. I say it will either have ejection problems or light strikes at 1500 rounds.

R51Fan,
Be advised, I am not carrying the gun during this period.   I may be crazy but I ain't  stupid!

Blackie, Are you using the same brand of ammo in all of your shooting? Some mfgs. or brands of ammo have dirtier burning powder, especially the cheaper stuff. Just a thought.FRED

I know you aren't. I'm going to guess that it will last until 1700 rounds before things start to happen .

Fred,
I am shooting Winchester white box, Winchester USA Forged,  Ruger ARX,  and all the other usual suspects.   I am  not partial.
Your average shooter would be shooting  the bargain of the day.   That is what I am doing.   I will not shoot Russian steel though!
