Post by: 1911SHOOTER on December 07, 2017, 10:14:05 PM
Midway has R51 mags on sale for $24.99.   They appear to be Gen II mags.

I wonder if we could contact MagPull or P Mag and see if they would be interested in doing a polymer mag for the R51 with all the improvements we have made to it?  Sheesh, why Remington can't seem to mag a decent mag for this thing is beyond me. I'm on number three right now, and the third one was worse than the other two.....until I fixed it.

R51 Fan,
I modified the first three, and they now work fine.    The last two that Big Green sent me,  with the new (?) part numbers
#4 and #5 are at 50%.  #4 is FUBAR, #5 feeds fine.   I am still trying to get #4 up to snuff.   Working on the bent  piece that stops the
mag follower from flying out of the mag.   This to me, smacks of piss poor quality control.  (pardon the French)

My guess would be there is not enough volume of sales to justify the R&D cost for the R51 mags. And the dies cost hthousand and thousands of dollars. I would hazard to guess that it take thousands of dollars to develop a new magazine. They sell thousands and thousands of AR mags.

Great idea though!
