Has anyone looked into or ran across any extended mags that will fit the R51? The 7 rd mags are fine for concealed carry
but for target practice its kind of a pain if you have a 10 shot skill set. Thanks Arlis

peach2k,
I checked with Mec-Gar and they said they had no plans for any R51 mags in the foreseeable future.
Don't know about any others. Do you know any good brazers or welders? If somebody wanted
to sacrifice a couple of mags to the cause, I bet you could make an extended mag.
Only problems I see are the spring and polishing the weld inside inside the mag. Might get a 14 shooter out of it. Any of us that is a machinist or a welder?

Blackie, Although I'd like to see someone successfully accomplish making an extended mag from two original ones, it could become a lesson in frustration >:(.
But, as an amateur machinist, I might try making an extended base plate from a chunk of ABS. Probably only hold an extra two or three rounds to make it easier to find springs. Or maybe someone who has a 3D printer could mass produce them to make some extra cash.
I went to the gun show today with the intent of buying a few extra R51 mags across the river in Bossier City. Sad story in part. Absolutely NO I mean NEIN, NILCH, NADA, NONE! Not the first Remington handgun there let alone any mags for the R51. Tons of Glocks, Rugers, and S&W's but no Remingtons. :'( Oh well, it wasn't a total loss. I carried both my Safe Queen M1 Garands in there, and did that cause a stir! ;D

I've printed some extended baseplates for my other guns, the problem with the R51 is the mag walls turn in to grab the baseplate from the outside rather than turning outward and the baseplate covers the outside of the mag. this would leave very little material holding the base to the mag body and may be impossible to do with enough space for the spring to pass and leave enough meat on the baseplate to live long. Will do some closer looking when i get back from visiting family for xmas.
