They definitely replaced the mag release pin.  The release is much less smooth and requires more thumb strength but it is a super job.  I suspect a thicker pin??.  Hopefully it remains in place for the life of the piece.  And I cannot say enough about the attitude of the reps at Remington.  They were outstanding, open, forthright, and did exactly as they said.  "Good on them"....

Regards to all.

Welcome aboard...and there are plenty of mag related "fixes" mentioned herein.  The new ones do not seem to be of poor construction and generally function pretty well but the older ones, certainly need TLC.  Let us know what you find.

Took Charlotte to the range today but did not clean her after being repaired and returned.   I had two mags with me....the new one (#7) and trusty #3.   Loaded #3 up and cycled the first round through her...a bit sticky and did not seat perfectly. Resolved with the butt of my hand.   Fired the first round...FTE!.  Cleared and re-chambered another round.   FTE! ...Cleared and re-chambered.   150 round later...NO ISSUES!!!!.   Both mags worked perfectly .Did not use sling shot method to seat the first round, rather I hand cycled. They performed perfectly.  Most likely dirt from the repair was responsible for the early issues.  I should have cleaned it before shooting it.   WE ARE GOOD TO GO!!!!

Rec'd my Charlotte back today.   The service people and the turn around were very good.   I had included in the shipment my single "very bad" mag  (one of 6) and they replaced it with a new one. The new mag cycled the first round perfectly.  The mag release pin stayed put.  So far so good.  To the range tomorrow.  Fingers crossed.   :)

Both of mine went back for the mag release pin issue and NO CHARGE either for the fix or the shipping.  The sent a special mailing pouch and it did not have to go back to my LGS...straight to me at my office.

The 2 mags that I ordered from Grabogun arrived.  They are encased in the semi-horseshoe plastic green containers...such as the ones in Pat Riot's picture above..

After racking them a few times with full mags from either the slingshot or mag release, they seemed to work perfectly.  We might have keepers here.  I have yet to fire them at the range though.

You will be the second to know.   I am shipping off Charlotte to have her mag release pin fixed...same problem that I had with Huntsville but that seems resolved.

Nearly 2000 rounds here and I see wear, but nothing destructive.  The ramps, the slides, and that block lock portion of the frame are no longer virgin but they are holding their own.

I would love to have 5 issue free mags..!!!

I believe that my Huntsville has more rounds than any other pistol on this forum...somewhere around 1800 rounds.   After getting my Mags #1 2 repaired/modified my failure rate is 0.6% on 115 gr reloads!!!   And 2/3 of those were 1st round FTF's ...Sooo

The pistol works.

I have 4 mags....and # 3 & #4  have been pretty good without mods.  I got those at the end of 2017.  I made the 3/16 and bevel mods to the first 2 and most of the problems went away.  Maybe their production methods were improved..who knows?

Regarding Johnnys51 issues, training is important.  We all need it.  But his issue was not unheard of.  I had the same issue at my LGS/range.  However it was with their reloads.  They were really jammed into the breech and it took 2 men and a boy to extract them, each time!!!  3 of 50 were FTF's and upon inspection there was a discernible bulge at the base.  They actually replaced their resizing die after 1.x million rounds because of that..   However the same batch fired great in my Shield.  Exacting and unforgiving manufacturing, I would suggest.

My Huntsville, that had the wayward mag release pin, came back and was taken to the range today.   84 round from 4 different mags.  Zero issues and the pin stayed put.  The pistol has had 1751 or more rounds through it, with 13 FTF..,, most 9 of 13 from Mag 1 early on.   Gettin' better all the time!!

On my 2 older mags w 800 rounds each...a definite, pronounced divot.  With mags 3 & 4 , with < 100 rnds each, there is a small divot on each.  I polished 1 & 2 early on but have not done so with the 2 latest.  Nor have I clipped and trimmed the follower legs on the last 2, but I will when the Charlotte pistol gets back from the factory because of the mag release pin repair.

Huntsville produces brass cases that appear all normal.
