I received the following reply after asking if their were any plans for producing the R51 in the future ...

A representative from Remington suggested that the R51 might only be temporarily out of production, since production of all their firearms is sporadic. The last production run of R51s was in November.  I am trying to get a more definitive answer, and when I do, I will post it here.

I received a reply this morning from Remington to the effect that the R51 is not currently in production.

I realize that. If I can't find one for sale, maybe someone would let me examine one in their collection .... either way, I think it would be useful to document the changes between the Gen 1 and Gen 2 guns. Thanks!

Does anyone know where I might find a R51 Gen 1 for sale? I'd like to study and catalog all the changes Remington made ...  Thanks!

R51 General Discussion / Re: Magazine Drop

I haven't noticed it happening at any particular time ... it seems random. And yes, I always make sure the magazine is properly seated, and listen for the snap - I even try and pull on the magazine to make sure it is retained and won't pull out.

Lately I have been taking great pains to make sure I'm not pressing the mag release, but it still occasionally happens.

R51 General Discussion / Magazine Drop
April 25, 2018, 06:57:34 AM
Occasionally the magazine will drop out of the gun immediately after firing a round. This happens often enough that I have made a habit of making sure the magazine is fully seated before shooting, so it is not the result of failing to fully inserting the magazine. Anyone else having this problem?

My Charlotte gun is 27xxx, the black Huntsville gun is 20xxx, and the Smoke I have is 23xxx. Both Huntsville guns have serial numbers that begin with "H". Interestingly, while the font size at the top of the frame is the same on all pistols (the same line with either "Charlotte" or "Huntsville"), the serial numbers are not. On the Charlotte gun the serial number is slightly smaller in size relative to the line above it, while on the Huntsville guns the serial number has a larger font size than the line above it - and is much easier to read. If I am not mistaken, I have seen other Charlotte pistols with later serial numbers that have the same larger font as the Huntsville guns.
