Go to Hour 2:  and listen from 07:19 to 09:32 to hear this very happy R51 owner.
This was a "Gun Talk" radio program recorded on Sunday 11/19/2017.  I agree with him completely!!!!!!!!!

After noticing a drop in accuracy and actually seeing copper in the lands of the barrel I decided to de-copper my R51 barrel.  Cleaned barrel as normal with M-Pro 7 cleaner.  Then ran a wet patch of 91% rubbing alcohol thru barrel.  Then a wet patch of Sweets 7.62, let sit for only 5 minutes (it is ammonia based) and ran a dry patch thru as directions stated.  Dry patch came out blue (copper).  Did same process a couple more times, until dry patch came out clean. Then I re-cleaned the bore with M-Pro7 gun cleaner. Do not let Sweets sit in barrel for more than 15 minutes or it will eat your barrel.  I used this on all of my match rifles (I am a Master rating in NRA High-Power shooting).  Sweets is the only product that "really" gets the copper out.  Then a patch with a light coating of M-Pro 7 gun oil I push thru bore.  A clean barrel and gun with good lubrication is a happy gun that will perform reliably when required!!  Please clean your magazines after each shooting session as well.  A firearm is only as reliable as the magazine that is attached to it

R51 General Discussion / Best Lubricant for R51
September 07, 2017, 12:14:13 AM
I use M-Pro 7 gun oil=http://www.mpro7.com/m-pro7-gun-oil-lpx.html  Makes my R51 action smooth as possible.  Incredible product and their gun cleaner as well.  I know a lot of guys in the military that will use nothing else on their personal or crew served weapons.

R51 General Discussion / REMINGTON $50.00 REBATE..
August 24, 2017, 06:59:29 PM
....got my $50.00 rebate check from Remington.  So that brought my R51 price down to $249.00.  Bought it from Bud's Guns online for $299.00 (they are Kentuckians).  What a deal for such an excellent Gen 2 R-51 pistol.  I also discovered that M-Pro 7 gun oil and gun cleaner is an excellent non-toxic combo to keep my R-51 running and gunning flawlessly.  I could not be happier.  I just purchased a kydex IWB holster+ a kydex OWB holster in carbon fiber trim.  I will see which is one I like best.  Also purchased a Fobus 2 mag paddle holder from Midway for $19.95.  So I am looking forward to trying them out.  Right now I carry in a fanny pack, which is comfortable for biking.  So lots of different ways to carry my R51.  I like the idea of carrying with only 6 rounds in the mags and one in the chamber.  So 19 rounds total concealed carry should be enough for just about any situation that may come occur (we live in the age of radical Islamic terrorism) and there are always street criminals and crazy meth addicts!!  I do not wish to "test" the Lord so I will utilize my R51 for self defense.  Armed Citizen over and out.....

R51 General Discussion / Defensive pistol course
July 26, 2017, 06:38:17 PM
This is the course I took=http://www.roguepg.com/defensive-pistol-1
A very humbling experience.  I barely passed the test at the end of the course.  The course ran from 9am to 4pm with an hour break for lunch and two 20 minute breaks (one morning, on break in the afternoon).  150 rounds thru my R51.  No FTF.  I will practice what I learned  with snap caps (A zoom snap caps) dry firing until I feel I have the defensive pistol techniques that I learned down pat.  Then I will re-take the course.  I am a humbled shooter that with practice, will become a true "gun fighter"!

Introductions section / Hello fellow R 51 shooters

I am now the proud owner of a 2nd generation Remington R51 pistol(attached photos).  I am a lifetime NRA member.  Have held a Master rating in NRA Highpower competition.  I have a CCW and carry my R51 in a fannypack.  I  will be taking a defensive pistol course in a couple of weeks with my new R51.  Yes, I have broken it in and purchased and xtra mag for it.  My R51 ran without a hiccup for 150 rounds.  Great pistol.  Glad to be a member of this forum!
