Title: Grip screw washers
Post by: 1911SHOOTER on December 22, 2016, 10:08:12 AM
I have seen a couple of posts about wood grips for the R51.
Be warned! When you take the screws out that hold the grips in, be advised
that there is a rubber grommet under the screw head, and it is very fragile.
I do not know the purpose of these grommets unless it is to prevent the
screws coming loose while shooting. I screwed up one of my grommets
while making wood grips, put the screw back in without a grommet and
and it appears to make no difference in holding power. It also does
not interfere with the Magazine at all. Will post a photo of the grips
if I ever finish them. They will have to be laminate type grips if I
want a thicker grip.

Got me some hand made ones off E-bay, 32 bucks free shipping. Didn't lose grommets, haven't tried em at range yet.(//)
