Part of my motivation for my recent purchase of one, in Dec 2019, was that I had a feeling that they would be discontinued soon. The low price, drop in advertising, and yes, the continual internet bashing, were the indicators to me.

R51 General Discussion / Re: My new R51
January 28, 2019, 05:43:01 PM
At this point I have taken it out shooting a couple of times. I will admit that I had a failure to feed once with the first magazine through it. However, it is my little game to, unless it is obviously unsafe to do so, shoot the gun as delivered.

After cleaning it I have had no problems with over three hundred and fifty rounds. Syre, it needs more range time before it can be blessed as a carry piece; however, if I picked it up, in an emergency, I would be reasonably confident that it would fire if need be.

In all, I remain happy with it.

Another voice of interest here. I would go for one. Probably the same price range as above.

R51 General Discussion / Re: New R51 at the range

I also got mine out to shoot for the first time this weekend. Out of the box I has a few failures (yes, I always try "out of the box" unless it will obviously be dangerous). Once I cleaned and lubed it I had no troubles for slightly over a hundred rounds.

I only shot the factory barrel, I didn't get around to using the threaded barrel. As far as take-down, it really wasn't that hard. Yes, it is different, but not hard.

R51 General Discussion / My new R51

I managed to get to the gun-store today and pick up my R51. Based on some suggestions here I added a Don Hume Makarov holster (it seems to fit fine). I had also ordered a threaded barrel.

I expect it to be just a couple of days before I have time to get out and shoot.

Mine arrived today, the same day as I picked up my R51.

R51 General Discussion / Magazine question
December 15, 2018, 09:55:25 AM
With my R51 on the way (actually, it is already at the store, I just won't be home, to pick it up, for another week) I have a question.

I have read that one thing that was changed for the second generation was the magazines. Is that true? If so, How do I insure that I am purchasing Gen 2 magazines instead of NOS Gen 1 magazines?

Mine is now on order. I won't be able to pick it up for another week. I work out of state; but I will be back home for a couple of weeks near christmas. I will pick it up them.

I ordered a "smoke" version. I hope to have a range report soon.

Introductions section / Hello From Utah

Hello, I live in Utah, however, I spend a good bit of my time working out of state. Frankly, I don't have an R51 yet; however it is on the shortlist and I expect to have one soon.

I like that it is different from most of the Browning inspired guns. I also just like the art-deco styling.

Other than that, I reload and I am an amature radio opperator.

I can't think of mush else to add at the moment. So, Hello all!
