R51 General Discussion / Re: R51 Triggers
September 03, 2020, 08:38:04 AM
"Or something" may well be the case. Been a lot of State level recalls for riot control. And other things.

I am a retired Reservist. Guard/Reserve service is a LOT more than "weekend a month, 2 weeks a year."

Solution.  Remington sent me a replacement mag release assembly and spring. The pin is much tighter with the new spring. Problem solved.

Finally got hold of my customer service guy at Remington. Evidently they play musical pins til they get one that's snug in the frame.

Welp. Looking around it looks like Loc-tite is an indifferent fix and apparently Big Green is aware of the issue and has a permanent fix. So, RMA mode again.

General Discussion / Re: R51 after action report.

Update.  Tried an old instructor trick; random dummy rounds in the mag. I'm pushing, aka anticipating recoil. Before you start spending money and doing without your gun, try some live fire with random dummy rounds in the magazines.

I'm having this issue. Observations and plan of action:

1) If you lock the slide open, pressure on the pin is released and you can ease the pin back in place.
EDIT 1.5) I tapped the pin from right to left just firmly enough that it won't budge with finger pressure. We'll see how that holds.
2) I'll try threadlock after liberally spraying with brake parts/carb cleaner to remove all lube so the stuff will hold.
3) Second RMA and let Big Green do their thing.

R51 General Discussion / Grips?
November 21, 2019, 09:18:39 AM
I'd like a set of grips that at least fill the hand better, but there don't seem to be many. Also, is there a Trader? I have a brand new set of Rosewood RM380 grips to trade....

Check your email. Pics in the thread would help, too.

R51 General Discussion / Re: What do You Think?

There's absolutely a place in the Market for the R51. It's a Smith and Wesson 380EZ writ large. I have neuropathy and the low slide effort was a huge part of my decision to buy. I'm preparing to buy a SECOND R51, a gray and black 2 tone, just because the slide is so easy to operate.

Checked with my Remington source this morning. Production suspended =/= production discontinued. That said, Big Green has lost their shirt, socks and drawers in this deal. Wouldn't be surprising if it wasn't in the 2020 lineup.

Gun is in work as of yesterday.  Not getting any particular sense of urgency from Big Green.

Update.  Tried every commonly available 115gr load and they all hit low. Front sight is stuck fast, so off to Remington later today.
Again, everything hits low because Remington didn't set it up with Bullseye sight alignment.

Peace favor your sword,
Kirk

Even with the combat sighting,  still 5" more or less low. Huntsville has it as of about 20 minutes ago.  I'll post more as I find out more.

R51 General Discussion / Re: My R51 is back!!
March 10, 2019, 11:28:20 AM
Mine's double feeding 124s, but the primary issue is even with the weird combat zero hold we actively discourage shooters from using in the NRA Basic Handgun course it still huts 5-6" low at 7 yards.  Did you send your gun back in the original box, and if so did they send it back in the original box? The RMA says boxes are not returned,  but the people at Remington say that that's wrong. Confusing.

General Discussion / Re: Breakin rounds needed

I'm at 200, and mine still won't charge from a full mag and the slide closed.
