It seems the true size of the Remington R51 Pistol has been mis-reported on many of the firearm websites and blogs at only 6" long.

It is being billed by Remington as a sub-compact but it is in fact 6-5/8" long not the incorrect 6" as reported on many blogs

It was previously reported at only 6" long - see below for a screenshot taken directly from Remington's 2014 Firearm Catalog.

Remington 9mm R51 Sub-compact Pistol: The Birth of a New Classic—Shot Show 2014

If the popularity of the 101-year-old Browning-designed Model 1911 pistol tells us anything, it's that great guns get even better through the application of modern technology. Remington took a page out of that playbook in the design of its newest pistol, the 9mm R51. What today is a beautiful sub-compact concealed carry gun started in 1917 as the Remington Model 51, designed by John Pederson. Pederson was a contemporary of John Browning, who called him "the greatest gun designer in the world." Remington based its new gun on the Pederson design, resulting in a pistol with a crisp trigger, reliable action and a low bore to reduce felt recoil. Read more at the link below

Click this link to make an introduction post ->> http://r51pistol.com/introductions/?action=post

All new members who sign up must make an introduction post in this section.

After that, you are free to post as often or as little as you like.

Once a week I check new members and delete any I find that do not have at least one post.

All members who do not make at least 1 post in the first 30 days WILL BE DELETED. This is an easy way for me to spot spammer accounts - accounts with zero post. Sorry to be so extreme but this is the world we live in these days. If your account got deleted for this reason you can re-sign up if you like.

-------------------|WHY?|-------------------

Why is this done? Because spammers will sign up then leave their account dormant. Then, they come back in a few months and post spam links.

Notice to all new members, I expect you to report any inappropriate links or post you see in this forum to me, the forum owner and administrator. Please help me keep this forum free of spam and bad links etc.

Thanks
Bob

The R-51 will be shipping to dealers on February 1st. After the range session we all got together with the Remington reps and discussed the pistol for an hour or so. None of us really had any significant changes we thought should be made. I don't know of one writer that didn't like this new pistol myself included.

Why I will buy a  Remington R51 - if it fits my hand well - if the trigger feels good and does not have a really long travel I will buy one.

Why I will buy a R51 - it looks good with the crimson trace laser installed - few pistols actually seem to look good with a laser but the R51 actually seems, if anything to look even better with the laser. I don't like the cost of the pistol with the laser so I will buy mine bare with no laser and without the night sites then ad these later. I am going to make my own night sites for this gun. More on this later - think kimber solo, this is what I have in mind for the rear site.

Why I will not buy a R51 - If I do not like the trigger, read the following example - I heard the Kahr pistols were pretty good so being the curious sort I asked to check one out at the local gun store not long ago. After asking if it was OK and being sure to check the pistol to be sure it was unloaded I tried dry firing the pistol.

I could not believe how long the trigger travel was before the trigger broke and the pistol fired. It seemed the trigger had to go all the way back then my fat finger kind of scrunched up against the back section and I had to squeeze even harder at the end of this loooong travel to make it fire. I could not believe how truly bad this trigger felt I would not pay 50 bucks for a Kahr pistol, YUK and these things sell.

So after seeing how truly bad the Kahr pistol trigger felt I will take a wait and see attitude on the R51 to be sure I like the way it feels. The gun reviewers all seem to like the trigger but they are not me so I want to be sure before being out the money for something I should not have bought. What this means is I will buy one after I have it in hand, I will not order one from one of the online gun stores, unless I absolutely have no choice what so ever, then I may chance it and order one.

Tons of rules? I do not like to have lots of rules concerning this forum, I want it to be open and friendly place where you can discuss anything you like, just try and keep the discussion on topic for the section you are posting in.

Posting links, I don't care if you post links in any thread as long as they are on topic and related to the thread content.

If you want to post a link to your local gun store's website go ahead if it is part of your discussion. If you are just posting a link, do it in the local links section and use the city and state name in the post title so people looking for local links can search and find the link.

Gun store owners, the same rule applies, post a link to your store's website in the links section or if the subject comes up in any thread, you may post a link.

I am not going to outlaw commercial discussions or Gun Store owners self promoting as long as the Gun Store owner is participating in the discussion, not just dropping links. As I said above, any one who wants to drop links, do it in the links section and keep it to relevant topics for the shooting industry.

Thanks

3 local gun stores, 2 of them I buy from the 3rd always charge 20% higher prices then everyone else.

None of them have a clue about the Remington R-51 pistol yet. If it is not on their distributors list it does not exist. I hope that changes soon.

One of them, the newest one who is trying harder to attract new business said the would attempt to get the Remington R-51 and ask if I wanted my name on the list for when they could get them in.

I really do not want to wait a year to get my hands on this pistol.
