Looks like a good class. Good luck. Yes let us know how the R51 performs for you.
Regards.

Had the bushing in the cocked position and had inserted the barrel. Not sure how but the next thing I know I'm doing the ouchy dance with the slide hanging off my finger.
Was going to post a picture of my fingert but can't seem to figure out how to put pictures in. I keep getting messages the
message below. the picture file is only 93k so not sure what is going on.

A good day at the range. Little R51 ran flawless as usual. Was a great time.
Got home and stated cleaning the little fella...my nemesis with the R51.
My fingers slipped on reassemble and the next thing I know I'm wearing a slide on my little finger. So after saying ouch and a few not so polite words I got the dumb thing off. 2 soaked bandaids and an hour later it was back together. Moral of the story....keep all appendages away from that spring and the ejection port.

Glad to hear they put you on the happy road. I've put several hundred rounds through mine with no jams, fail to eject or any other nuisance activities.
My sights were off by about 4" right and 4" low at 9 yards. Resolved this myself with a new front sight from Dawson's and a dial indicator to center up the lefty right stuff. All is good now.
I am about 100 rounds away from calling it ready to find a good defensive load. Looking at the Remington HTP. I think those are either 124 grain or 147 grain. Would prefer heavier but will be happy with what the R51 likes.
Enjoy. It is a hoot to shoot.

It is Dawson SKU: 020-434-00.
https://dawsonprecision.com/novak-cut-fiber-optic-front-sights/

$39 shipped. You will need a needle file to take a few strokes on the new sight with. Ships with a small punch that has been cut for addressing the sight. I used a sight pusher. Took about 10 minutes. I spent more time with a dial indicator to get it lined up.

I'm happy with .130 front sight height. I installed a fiber optic from Dawson Precision. A few strokes with the file and it fit perfect. Strokes on the new sight of course.

The 2 flyers low and left was me getting settled. Then aimed for red dot at 9 then finally at center. 9 yards.

Red lock tight applied. I ran another 50ish rounds today. Again like before -- no FTF, FTE or FTRB.

I'm happy.

After multiple attempts to attach a photo I give up. Sorry folks.

Yes a shorter front sight is ordered.
Knock on wood I'll have this today or tomorrow and will have some range time on Thursday.

Still a no go with elevation using the military hold. This little fella is about 4 inches low. Sigh.
New front site ordered. We'll see.

I'll give this a try today. If this pans out -- cool. Thanks.

I might have to give those a try. Mine is shooting low and right. I think I have the right portion solved (range time on Thursday) but would like to get the elevation portion solved also.

Did this come with install tools or do I need to take to a gunsmith? Thanks.

I tried this. Worked great in the take down stage. Still had a dickens of a time putting it back together......sigh. I'll get the hang of it. Next range time is Thursday so another learning opportunity presents itself.http://r51pistol.com/Smileys/default/cool.gif

I see  Winthrop is carrying leather IWB and OWB for the R51. Nice. My favorite "less expensive" holster company.
