I've been knocking around the idea of buying a slide and having it milled for a RD.  But at that point it's almost as expensive as buying a gun already milled.

It looks like it is definitely possible but I think you would have to lose the rear sight.  If you do the cut-out in front of the sight it would be too far forward on the slide and it may conflict with the loaded chamber indicator.  I put the Trijicon RMR CC06 on the R51 for fun.
