I just got one from Bud's.. it was made in Charlotte.. runs fine So far including 7+1 loading.

That's good to hear. Is your R-51 the $215 one from Buds?
Are the grip panels held with removable screws or rivets?

I picked up one from buds last week, its from AL, and has screws.

Must be a crap-shoot ordering from buds what one you get.

Mine has screws which is good because I'm gonna make some cedar and mesquite grips. I paid $250 and got two crimson trace lasers in the deal.

No have not looked. Figured I'd use the existing plastic plates as a pattern. That's what I did for my Ruger SP101. These in the picture are made from cedar wood.

Looks good!

I bought one of those starter wood CNC machines, and will try to make a set of checkered R-51 grips...... since big green stopped selling 51 accessories.   >:(

Ordered and received my 2nd R-51 from Buds.
Has screws for the grip panels, # 3163*** from NC
Fit and finish is fine.
