Has anyone noticed any difference or quality with their R51's between the two plant locations.
I have one R51 from NC and it's a good performer no problems.
Thinking about getting another and putting it away.

My Charlotte model needed only the shortening of the followers in the mags to run well. The Huntsville piece got a good cleaning out of the box and ran great. I have not noticed any differences between the two.

I also have both and haven't noticed any difference.

Made in Huntsville, AL.   I have 2, a 2-Tone and all black.  Roll Tide Roll.  Built by Bama.  Manufacturing jobs coming to this state in droves.

Great to see the economy roaring! In retrospect, it would have been
tragic if indeed the South had completed Secession in the 1860's.
Both countries would have been depleted, we would not have had
the great Southern contribution to our efforts in World Wars 1 & 2.
I would not have thought there would be any difference in the two
plants...modern engineering, etc.

Yeah, things are different and changing here.  Kimber has built a plant south of Troy, AL.  Steyr is in Bessemer, AL.   Automobile industry is through the roof.  AIRBUS in Mobile.

wow! Nice to hear about the Kimber plant, etc.

Yeah, going to stop by and see if I cannot get the nickel tour next time I am down that way.  Not a Kimber fan, but who knows.

While I own a Huntsville, I have compared it with a Charlotte made one and have noticed zero differences. It appears once The Big Green got qc ironed out, they were making a good solid gun. Too bad the negative press ran rabid with the recall.

I apricate all the feedback on my question. I'm going for another one.

Where are you thinking of buying it?

Buds Gun Shop has them right now for $219.00.  Hard to beat.

Jake7757

That is a great price for a R51 at Buds.
I believe that variant has the rivets to hold the panels secure.

Numrich Gun Parts sells just about all the spares (parts) for the R-51
I would have to drill the rivets, add 4 screws and 4 lock rings and hopefully
not damage the panels.

Having big mitts and arthritis's I would pass that job off to a gunsmith.
If we can confirm those rivet holes are threaded to the original panels screws
I might be a player.

The picture of the R51 on the Buds website is not correct. The picture shows a 2014 Gen1 model which were all recalled by Remington.  The Gen 2 will have removable grip panels and a skeletonized trigger.

Zen is right... Picture at the top of this page is Gen1 also.
Have also seen some prototype or Gen1 magazine pictures on some sights.
