Got my second r51 on black Friday.  Guess this will be the third I've had to date.   I had one of the first gens.  Liked that one too.  Tweaked a few things to let it sortof work.  Ultimately sent it back though.

I see the unfavorable reviews and can't see how they come to their conclusions.  The gun is accurate, has much less muzzle flip, and is easy to shoot fast.  Very fun gun to shoot.

Hopefully they keep production going.  If they run the rebate again I'll probably get a third.

Many of those youtube reviewers are just idiots, plain and simple :P. Others just want more followers and hits so they make more ad money. Watching some of them is like watching monkeys with a football. I wonder how they haven't seriously hurt themselves and if their parents had any other children that lived :o.

Some use garbage ammo and their final word is that a gun is unreliable because they should feed/fire all ammo. How about that Schmuck Glock fan with the five-o'clock shadow? Don't even get me started on him!

What really gets me are most of the Dolts who comment on those videos. They are just as clueless.

The R51 isn't perfect, but I believe most of it's issues are caused by the mag. I do think a redesigned follower made of a better material and with tighter tolerances is the key to correcting it. The issues with the trigger reset that some had, including myself, appear to be an issue with the manufacturing processes or the quality of the workers themselves, not the design.

I retired as a quality rep and have spent countless hours in some fantastic manufacturing facilities, mostly aviation, and can tell you, most problems stem from their lack of attention to detail by the workers performing the processes.

Like Blackie said in a previous thread, they are all Keyboard Kowboys. They just post wildly inaccurate assertions about something just cause, or like funflyer just said, they are idiots. Who cares frankly. The gun is a success in my book, and I will definitely be acquiring more in the future.

R51Fan,
My smoke should be here about the first of next week.   Then I  will order the bone grips.   It should look awesome.   I have
been offering the R51 to other shooters to try when they comment on it.   Some negative,   I hand then the gun, slide open,  and mag, tell them to insert the mag,
and slingshot the mag.   It goes boom 7 times.   They love it.   Am I an ambassador for Big Green, or r51pistol.com?
I prefer to think the later.    We need to be recognized as an authority on the R51.    Just my opinion.

On the subject of the mags, one of the ones that came with the second gun had all of the nose diving, double feeding issues.  Tried that mag in the first gun, which has been nearly flawless, and all of those same issues started occurring on that gun as well.  I'll scrutinize this mag to see what the deal is.  Maybe I'll ask Remington for another.

Aside from that, I ran 50 rounds of steel cased monarch ammo through the two guns with no issues.

Also took my rm380 to the range.  My dad was impressed by the accuracy of that little thing.

I'm drinking the Remington coolaid.  There might be some twitchy minor things to get around, but I feel these guns outperform most of the other guns on the market for a lower price.....and they are metal.

You are doing a great service Blackie! I want to see some pics when you get her done!  I have done the same thing with a buddy of mine. He is a Glock and Sig guy, however, he maintains a pretty open mind when it comes to different types of guns. He tried my R51 the other day and loved it. So much so, he wants to go buy one for himself as soon as he gets payed again. I think this is the best way we can help clear the R51's reputation and give it credibility in the gun world.

You are right mr220v. They really do perform. I have over two hundred rounds through mine, and she has yet to fail me in any way. That's after she has sampled a good variety of ammo too (steel, aluminum, brass, hollow points and fmj). No matter what I feed her, she just keeps throwing lead down range. I love her so much, what else can I say?!

Bought my 2nd R51 today.  While at my LGS, the clerk turned and said something like...."these are getting to be very popular. And they are so inexpensive...."  That just might bode well for the longevity of this piece and give it a better chance to work through the mag problems.  I absolutely love mine, how it shoots, what it shoots and most importantly, how it carries.  I forget that it is on my side.

Mr220v,
Good on you!   Glad your R51s go bang.   Ours do too, except we are prisoners of Big Greens poor quality control on their magazines.
Some work, some do not.  The R51 is still a great shooter!!!!!

As mentioned above, I had ordered my second piece.   It arrived and was torn down 6 times and cleaned.   It is a Charlotte pistol.   But...NO PROBLEMS OUT OF THE BOX.   See the results in my "DAY 4 AT THE RANGE...."   SITREP.

I'm thinking that most of these guns are basically OK.  Like I mentioned, I ran that one bad mag through my previously perfect gun, and it suddenly had all of the malfunctions that this gun has been known for.

It's crappy that such a high percentage of mags are problematic, but at least that is a manageable problem.  It's a small inconvenience for a gun that was cheap in the first place, is as accurate as a full sized 9mm, and still has less muzzle flip than almost all other guns on the market....and is all metal.
