Hi all,
Purchased a Gen II R51 in July due to its unique design and the $50 rebate.  The rebate coupled with the Big-box store's NRA discount in July resulted in a price point that I figure would not be so bad if I got a bad one,  So far, so good.
Looking forward to learning all the tips and tricks from this community.
Thanks...

The biggest tip is learning how to disassemble and reassemble.

Some people here like using a pair of spring style wood clamps to hold the barrel during disassembly.

Notice that you don't have to hold the barrel forward when you replace the slide on the frame.

Another tip is that the chamber has a fairly short Leade or Freebore.  If you reload, it is CRITICAL that you plunk your rounds.  I have not yet found a Hard Cast Lead (HC) bullet which will both plunk and feed reliably.  When seated deep enough to plunk safely, they are too short to feed reliably in the R51.  This includes Truncated Cone.  Jacketed bullets only.

Peace favor your sword,
Kirk
